Study on Feature Selection and Identification Method of Tool Wear States Based on Svm

Abstrakt

Abstract

This paper presents an on-line tool wear condition monitoring system for milling. The proposed system was developed taking the cost and performance in practice into account, in addition to a high success rate. The cutting vibration signal is obtained during the cutting process, and then extracting features using time-domain statistical and wavelet packet decomposition algorithms. It would result in two major disadvantages if creating a tool wear states identification model based on all extracted features, i.e. high computational cost and inefficient complexity of the model, which leads to overfitting. It is crucial to extract a smaller feature set by an effective feature selection algorithm. In this paper, an approach based on one-versus-one multi-class Support Vector Machine Recursive Feature Elimination (SVM-RFE) is proposed to solve the feature selection problem in tool wear condition monitoring. Moreover, in order to analyze a performance degradation process on the machine tool, Least Squares Support Vector Machines (LS-SVM) is introduced. In order to estimate the effectiveness of feature selection algorithm, the comparative analysis among Fisher Score (FS) Information Gain (IG) and SVM-RFE is exploited to real milling datasets. The identification result proves that: The selected feature set based on SVM-RFE is more effective to recognize tool wear state; LS-SVM wear identification method is superior to BP neural network, and it has higher identification accuracy; the proposed feature selection and identification method for tool wear states is efficient and feasible.

Research on Visual Navigation and Remote Monitoring Technology of Agricultural Robot

Abstrakt

Abstract

To solve the problems of instability of agricultural robot when avoiding obstacles, a kind of navigation method which combined monocular visual navigation technology and remote monitoring technology was proposed: using the centerline method to extract the navigation path to achieve visual navigation; the monitoring center received two-way real-time image signals of the agricultural robot, when the agricultural robot met the obstacle or other situations, the remote monitoring center would start the alarm, then the operators could send control signals through the monitoring software to implement manual intervention. The experiment showed that the system improved the reliability of the navigation.

Adaptive Dynamic Clone Selection Neural Network Algorithm for Motor Fault Diagnosis

Abstrakt

Abstract

A fault diagnosis method based on adaptive dynamic clone selection neural network (ADCSNN) is proposed in this paper. In this method the weights of neural network is encoded as the antibody, and the network error is considered as the antigen. The algorithm is then applied to fault detection of motor equipment. The experiments results show that the fault diagnosis method based on ADCS neural network has the capability in escaping local minimum and improving the algorithm speed, this gives better performance.

Design of Backing-Up Fuzzy Controllers Based on Variable Universe of Discourse

Abstrakt

Abstract

Fuzzy controllers with variable universe of discourse (VUD) have been applied in many fields of intelligent controlling because of their high-accuracy performance. This paper provides a lookup table method to design backing-up fuzzy controllers based on VUD. By setting a set of random start points, input–output data pairs are obtained using test-driving method. One data pair defines one fuzzy rule and also assigns the strength of every fuzzy rule. Conflicting fuzzy rule groups are integrated into one fuzzy rule by selecting the one with the maximum strength. A fuzzy rule table is built by the fuzzy rules deduced from input–output data pairs. Simulation experiments show that the VUD fuzzy controller outperforms the general fuzzy controller in accuracy at the final position of the parking lot.

Low Energy Adaptive Routing Hierarchy Based on Differential Evolution

Abstrakt

Abstract

In recent years, wireless sensor network (WSN) is a rapidly evolving technological platform with tremendous and novel applications. Many routing protocols have been specially designed for WSN because the sensor nodes are typically battery-power. To prolong the network lifetime, power management and energy-efficient routing techniques become necessary. In large scale wireless sensor networks, hierarchical routing has the advantage of providing scalable and resource efficient solutions. To find an efficient way to decrease energy consumption and improve network lifetime, this paper proposes a centralized routing called Low-Energy Adaptive routing Hierarchy Based on Differential Evolution (LEACH-DE). Simulation results show that the proposed routing protocol outperforms other well known protocols including LEACH and LEACH-C in the aspects of reducing overall energy consumption and improving network lifetime.

Neural Networks Method Applied to The Property Study of Steel-Concrete Composite Columns Under Axial Compression

Abstract

In this paper, a new type of steel-concrete composite member, concrete-filled core steel tube with outer angle steel plank reinforced concrete stub column, is proposed and a series of nonlinear 3-D(three-dimensional) full-range numerical calculations under axial compression are carried out, some important factors are analyzed, such as the strength of the concrete, the steel tube and the angle steel, the volume ratio of the steel tube and the angle steel to the overall column, position coefficient(the ratio of the diameter of the core steel tube to the overall width of the column section). RBFNNs(Radial Basis Function Neural Networks) are employed for calculated the loading capacity of the concrete-filled core steel tube with outer angle steel plank reinforecd concret stub columns under axial compression, and the prediction results based on RBFNNS are compared with theoretical formula calculation results. The maximum and minimum error ratio of prediction is 12.32% and 4.17%, respectively.

Automated Mobility and Orientation System for Blind or Partially Sighted People

Abstrakt

Abstract

Currently, blind people use a traditional cane as a tool for directing them when they move from one place to another. Although, the traditional cane is the most widespread means that is used today by the visually impaired people, it could not help them to detect dangers from all levels of obstacles. In this context, we propose a new intelligent system for guiding individuals who are blind or partially sighted. The system is used to enable blind people to move with the same ease and confidence as a sighted people. The system is linked with a GSM-GPS module to pin-point the location of the blind person and to establish a two way communication path in a wireless fashion. Moreover, it provides the direction information as well as information to avoid obstacles based on ultrasonic sensors. A beeper, an accelerometer sensor and vibrator are also added to the system. The whole system is designed to be small, light and is used in conjunction with the white cane. The results have shown that the blinds that used this system could move independently and safely.

Labeling of Human Motion Based on CBGA and Probabilistic Model

Abstrakt

Abstract

In this paper, we present a novel method for the labeling of human motion which uses Constraint-Based Genetic Algorithm (CBGA) to optimize the probabilistic model of body features and construct the set of conditional independence relations among the body features by a fitness function. The approach also allows the user to add custom rules to produce valid candidate solutions to achieve more accurate results with constraint-based genetic operators. Specifically, we design the fitness function using a probability model based on the decomposable triangle model(DTM), which is learned through the EM algorithm with the minimum description length (MDL) principle and CBGA algorithm to characterize the stochastic and dynamic relations of articulated human motions. We also extend these results to learning the probabilistic structure of human body to improve the labeling results, the handling of missing body parts, the integration of multi-frame information and the accuracy rates. Finally, we analyze the performance of our proposed approach and show that it outperforms most of the current state of the art methods on a set of motion captured walking, running and dancing sequences in terms of quality and robustness.

Electronic Track Map Building for Satellite-based High Integrity Railway Train Positioning

Abstrakt

Abstract

The concept of electronic track map has been introduced and researched in many satellitebased railway train positioning and location-based railway systems. It should characterize the railway tracks and their key objects and facilities with a satisfied accuracy and completeness. Based on the application requirements, design and building of the electronic track maps should be in accordance with the map matching approach, and moreover, considering the integrity effect that is decisive to safety. This paper introduces a paradigm for electronic track map design and generation. According to the satellite-base train positioning scheme, the architecture of the electronic track map and its coupling in the train-borne systems is investigated. Detailed track map generation method is summarized as a five-step process, including raw measurement collection, rejection of abnormal measurement, feature points extraction, track interpolation, and topographic property supplement. Following this approach, the map matching with high integrity is discussed where the statistics of matching residual is adopted to improve the direct error analysis. Practical measurements and field test results demonstrate the capability of the presented track map building and integrity monitoring approaches. That provides great potential to implementation of satellite navigation in railway applications and services.

Review on Wordnet-Based Ontology Construction in China

Abstract

The problem of WordNet-based ontology construction was widely investigated and many effective methods have been proposed in China. The utilizations of the hierarchy structure of WordNet, the digraph structure of WordNet and auxiliary resources are main measures in the methods. Usually, the methods are facing three fundamental difficulties, the computation of semantic similarity, the construction of core ontology and the development of auxiliary resources. Through our reviews of previous researches, we find several inadequacies such as low utilization ratio of WordNet and the lack of standardized evaluation and give some suggestions for future works.

Metecloud: A Private Cloud Platform For Meteorological Data Storage Using Hadoop

Abstract

With the increasing popularity of open-source platform Hadoop, the meteorological industry is available to create a Meteorological Cloud (MeteCloud) platform to store and deploy applications. In this paper, we propose an idea to build the MeteCloud platform for meteorological departments using Hadoop. We also present a backup policy for meteorological data. In addition, one kind of storage process of the meteorological A-format file is presented. Furthermore, we experiment with one-year historical data on the platform by varying many related parameters such as the number of nodes, meteorological records and fields. Finally, the proposed MeteCloud platform proves to be efficient and suitable for the storage of meteorological data.

Observer Based Dynamic Surface Control of A Hypersonic Flight Vehicle

Abstract

This paper describes the design and analysis of a proportional integral air speed controller and a nonlinear adaptive dynamic surface altitude controller for the longitudinal dynamics of a generic hypersonic flight vehicle. The uncertain nonlinear functions in the pure feedback flight vehicle model are approximated by using radial basis function neural networks. For the controller design, the complete states are assumed to be available for measurement, then a sliding mode observer is incorporated to estimate the states which are difficult to measure in practice. A detailed stability analysis of the designed altitude controller shows that all the signals of the closed loop system are uniformly ultimately bounded. The robustness and performance of the designed controllers, with and without the observer are verified through numerical simulations of the flight vehicle model for trimmed cruise conditions of 110,000 ft and Mach 15.

Abstract

An Industrial and Enterprise Greenhouse Gas Emission Data Analysis System, which meets with the need of those giant energy-consuming enterprises, has been set up through a series of studies about Greenhouse gas (GHG) verification method in industries such as cement, thermal power, cogeneration, transportation, sewage treatment etc. The analysis system consists of six modules: Organization structure; Facility; Activity data input; Emission data analysis; Report generation; Parameters configure. The calculation process is based both on Emission Factor Method and Materials Balance Method, the former method realizes an easy calculation for the GHG emissions conducted from fuel combustion, electricity or steam consumption, general business and office activities, the later one provides a specialized calculation for professional production processes such as cement production, exhaust desulfurization and sewage treatment etc. A thermal boiler’s GHG emission was used as a case to test the system.

Recognition Of Psoriasis Features Via Daubechies D8 Wavelet Technique

Abstract

This paper presents a study in an efficient methodology for analysis and characterization of digital images psoriasis lesions using Daubechies D8 wavelet technique. The methodology is based on the transformation of 2D Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) algorithm for Daubechies D8 at first level to obtain the coefficients of the approximations and details sub-images. For classification method, statistical approach analysis is applied to identify significance difference between each groups of psoriasis in terms of mean and standard deviation parameter. Results performances are concluded by observing the error plots with 95% confidence interval and applied independent T-test. The test outcomes have shown that approximate mean and standard deviation parameter can be used to distinctively classify erythroderma from the other groups in consistent with visual observations of the error plots. Whilst, in order to discriminate guttate from the other groups, standard deviation parameters for horizontal, vertical and diagonal can be utilized. Based on the results, plaque is distinguishable with guttate and erythroderma by using standard deviation vertical sub-images parameter. Results of Daubechies D8 is compared with study done previously by using Daubechies D4 and Daubechies D12 in order to observe the reliability of the results in Daubechies families. The resultant parameters can be used to design computer-aided system in diagnosis the skin lesion of psoriasis.

Application of Multi-Frequency Electromagnetic Profiling in Studying the Distribution of Bronze in Jinsha Ruin Worship

Abstract

Like the Sanxingdui ruins, the Jinsha ruins are an important archaeological site in the Chengdu Plain. Excavation of these ruins may offer important evidence for the origins and evolution of the ancient Shu civilization. In order to protect historical relics during excavation, it is necessary to use a nondestructive approach when determining the distribution of those relics. Multi-frequency electromagnetic profiling is one nondestructive geophysical exploration technique. With this method, the metal bodies underground can be detected based on the different conductivities of rocks and minerals in the crust. In the present paper, multi-frequency electromagnetic profiling was used to study the distribution of bronze in the sacrifice area of the Jinsha ruins, and the data were processed with multi electromagnetic dipole forward modeling. The distribution of bronze derived from multifrequency electromagnetic profiling was in accordance with the results of site excavation, proving that multi-frequency electromagnetic profiling method is an effective and nondestructive means of assessing the distribution of bronze ware in archaeological ruins.

Image Quality Assessment Method for Underwater Acoustic Communication Based on Digital Watermarking

Abstract

This paper proposes a method of reduced-reference image quality assessment based on watermarking algorithm in underwater acoustic channel. By embedding the watermark image into the original one, then delivering the combined image through the channel distortion, the same channel distortion would be exposed to the original and the watermark image. In the receiver,we use the blind extraction methods to recover the watermark image and use the watermark degradation to evaluate the quality of the original one. In this paper,we build three kinds of channels: AWGN channel, Rice fading channel and GB model channel to validate the feasibility of the method which would be used in the underwater acoustic channel.

An Enhanced Scheme in Controlling Both Coverage and Quality of Service in Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract

With the increasing number of applications for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), different Quality of Services (QoS) levels based on the type of applications are required. An increasing research interest has been noted in the provision of QoS support in WSNs. QoS support in WSNs is challenging because of very limited resources, such as battery power, processing power, memory, and bandwidth. An earlier study introduced a QoS control approach based on the Gur Game. The Gur Game-based scheme can maintain QoS without knowing the total number of sensors. However, the Gur Game-based scheme does not consider the active sensor coverage. The problems of collecting redundant data and wasting bandwidth and battery energy arise if active sensors are distributed too densely or too sparsely. Therefore, this study proposes a Coverage-Aware QoS Control (CAQC) to achieve both QoS and coverage control using an enhanced reward function. Simulations that compared our scheme with previous studies in various environments indicated that CAQC creates a robust sensor network capable of achieving both QoS and coverage targets.

Design of Backing-Up Fuzzy Controllers Based on Variable Universe of Discourse

Abstrakt

Abstract

Fuzzy controllers with variable universe of discourse (VUD) have been applied in many fields of intelligent controlling because of their high-accuracy performance. This paper provides a lookup table method to design backing-up fuzzy controllers based on VUD. By setting a set of random start points, input–output data pairs are obtained using test-driving method. One data pair defines one fuzzy rule and also assigns the strength of every fuzzy rule. Conflicting fuzzy rule groups are integrated into one fuzzy rule by selecting the one with the maximum strength. A fuzzy rule table is built by the fuzzy rules deduced from input–output data pairs. Simulation experiments show that the VUD fuzzy controller outperforms the general fuzzy controller in accuracy at the final position of the parking lot.

Low Energy Adaptive Routing Hierarchy Based on Differential Evolution

Abstrakt

Abstract

In recent years, wireless sensor network (WSN) is a rapidly evolving technological platform with tremendous and novel applications. Many routing protocols have been specially designed for WSN because the sensor nodes are typically battery-power. To prolong the network lifetime, power management and energy-efficient routing techniques become necessary. In large scale wireless sensor networks, hierarchical routing has the advantage of providing scalable and resource efficient solutions. To find an efficient way to decrease energy consumption and improve network lifetime, this paper proposes a centralized routing called Low-Energy Adaptive routing Hierarchy Based on Differential Evolution (LEACH-DE). Simulation results show that the proposed routing protocol outperforms other well known protocols including LEACH and LEACH-C in the aspects of reducing overall energy consumption and improving network lifetime.

Neural Networks Method Applied to The Property Study of Steel-Concrete Composite Columns Under Axial Compression

Abstract

In this paper, a new type of steel-concrete composite member, concrete-filled core steel tube with outer angle steel plank reinforced concrete stub column, is proposed and a series of nonlinear 3-D(three-dimensional) full-range numerical calculations under axial compression are carried out, some important factors are analyzed, such as the strength of the concrete, the steel tube and the angle steel, the volume ratio of the steel tube and the angle steel to the overall column, position coefficient(the ratio of the diameter of the core steel tube to the overall width of the column section). RBFNNs(Radial Basis Function Neural Networks) are employed for calculated the loading capacity of the concrete-filled core steel tube with outer angle steel plank reinforecd concret stub columns under axial compression, and the prediction results based on RBFNNS are compared with theoretical formula calculation results. The maximum and minimum error ratio of prediction is 12.32% and 4.17%, respectively.

Automated Mobility and Orientation System for Blind or Partially Sighted People

Abstrakt

Abstract

Currently, blind people use a traditional cane as a tool for directing them when they move from one place to another. Although, the traditional cane is the most widespread means that is used today by the visually impaired people, it could not help them to detect dangers from all levels of obstacles. In this context, we propose a new intelligent system for guiding individuals who are blind or partially sighted. The system is used to enable blind people to move with the same ease and confidence as a sighted people. The system is linked with a GSM-GPS module to pin-point the location of the blind person and to establish a two way communication path in a wireless fashion. Moreover, it provides the direction information as well as information to avoid obstacles based on ultrasonic sensors. A beeper, an accelerometer sensor and vibrator are also added to the system. The whole system is designed to be small, light and is used in conjunction with the white cane. The results have shown that the blinds that used this system could move independently and safely.

Labeling of Human Motion Based on CBGA and Probabilistic Model

Abstrakt

Abstract

In this paper, we present a novel method for the labeling of human motion which uses Constraint-Based Genetic Algorithm (CBGA) to optimize the probabilistic model of body features and construct the set of conditional independence relations among the body features by a fitness function. The approach also allows the user to add custom rules to produce valid candidate solutions to achieve more accurate results with constraint-based genetic operators. Specifically, we design the fitness function using a probability model based on the decomposable triangle model(DTM), which is learned through the EM algorithm with the minimum description length (MDL) principle and CBGA algorithm to characterize the stochastic and dynamic relations of articulated human motions. We also extend these results to learning the probabilistic structure of human body to improve the labeling results, the handling of missing body parts, the integration of multi-frame information and the accuracy rates. Finally, we analyze the performance of our proposed approach and show that it outperforms most of the current state of the art methods on a set of motion captured walking, running and dancing sequences in terms of quality and robustness.

Electronic Track Map Building for Satellite-based High Integrity Railway Train Positioning

Abstrakt

Abstract

The concept of electronic track map has been introduced and researched in many satellitebased railway train positioning and location-based railway systems. It should characterize the railway tracks and their key objects and facilities with a satisfied accuracy and completeness. Based on the application requirements, design and building of the electronic track maps should be in accordance with the map matching approach, and moreover, considering the integrity effect that is decisive to safety. This paper introduces a paradigm for electronic track map design and generation. According to the satellite-base train positioning scheme, the architecture of the electronic track map and its coupling in the train-borne systems is investigated. Detailed track map generation method is summarized as a five-step process, including raw measurement collection, rejection of abnormal measurement, feature points extraction, track interpolation, and topographic property supplement. Following this approach, the map matching with high integrity is discussed where the statistics of matching residual is adopted to improve the direct error analysis. Practical measurements and field test results demonstrate the capability of the presented track map building and integrity monitoring approaches. That provides great potential to implementation of satellite navigation in railway applications and services.

Review on Wordnet-Based Ontology Construction in China

Abstrakt

Abstract

The problem of WordNet-based ontology construction was widely investigated and many effective methods have been proposed in China. The utilizations of the hierarchy structure of WordNet, the digraph structure of WordNet and auxiliary resources are main measures in the methods. Usually, the methods are facing three fundamental difficulties, the computation of semantic similarity, the construction of core ontology and the development of auxiliary resources. Through our reviews of previous researches, we find several inadequacies such as low utilization ratio of WordNet and the lack of standardized evaluation and give some suggestions for future works.

Metecloud: A Private Cloud Platform For Meteorological Data Storage Using Hadoop

Abstract

With the increasing popularity of open-source platform Hadoop, the meteorological industry is available to create a Meteorological Cloud (MeteCloud) platform to store and deploy applications. In this paper, we propose an idea to build the MeteCloud platform for meteorological departments using Hadoop. We also present a backup policy for meteorological data. In addition, one kind of storage process of the meteorological A-format file is presented. Furthermore, we experiment with one-year historical data on the platform by varying many related parameters such as the number of nodes, meteorological records and fields. Finally, the proposed MeteCloud platform proves to be efficient and suitable for the storage of meteorological data.

Observer Based Dynamic Surface Control of A Hypersonic Flight Vehicle

Abstrakt

Abstract

This paper describes the design and analysis of a proportional integral air speed controller and a nonlinear adaptive dynamic surface altitude controller for the longitudinal dynamics of a generic hypersonic flight vehicle. The uncertain nonlinear functions in the pure feedback flight vehicle model are approximated by using radial basis function neural networks. For the controller design, the complete states are assumed to be available for measurement, then a sliding mode observer is incorporated to estimate the states which are difficult to measure in practice. A detailed stability analysis of the designed altitude controller shows that all the signals of the closed loop system are uniformly ultimately bounded. The robustness and performance of the designed controllers, with and without the observer are verified through numerical simulations of the flight vehicle model for trimmed cruise conditions of 110,000 ft and Mach 15.

Abstract

An Industrial and Enterprise Greenhouse Gas Emission Data Analysis System, which meets with the need of those giant energy-consuming enterprises, has been set up through a series of studies about Greenhouse gas (GHG) verification method in industries such as cement, thermal power, cogeneration, transportation, sewage treatment etc. The analysis system consists of six modules: Organization structure; Facility; Activity data input; Emission data analysis; Report generation; Parameters configure. The calculation process is based both on Emission Factor Method and Materials Balance Method, the former method realizes an easy calculation for the GHG emissions conducted from fuel combustion, electricity or steam consumption, general business and office activities, the later one provides a specialized calculation for professional production processes such as cement production, exhaust desulfurization and sewage treatment etc. A thermal boiler’s GHG emission was used as a case to test the system.

Recognition Of Psoriasis Features Via Daubechies D8 Wavelet Technique

Abstract

This paper presents a study in an efficient methodology for analysis and characterization of digital images psoriasis lesions using Daubechies D8 wavelet technique. The methodology is based on the transformation of 2D Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) algorithm for Daubechies D8 at first level to obtain the coefficients of the approximations and details sub-images. For classification method, statistical approach analysis is applied to identify significance difference between each groups of psoriasis in terms of mean and standard deviation parameter. Results performances are concluded by observing the error plots with 95% confidence interval and applied independent T-test. The test outcomes have shown that approximate mean and standard deviation parameter can be used to distinctively classify erythroderma from the other groups in consistent with visual observations of the error plots. Whilst, in order to discriminate guttate from the other groups, standard deviation parameters for horizontal, vertical and diagonal can be utilized. Based on the results, plaque is distinguishable with guttate and erythroderma by using standard deviation vertical sub-images parameter. Results of Daubechies D8 is compared with study done previously by using Daubechies D4 and Daubechies D12 in order to observe the reliability of the results in Daubechies families. The resultant parameters can be used to design computer-aided system in diagnosis the skin lesion of psoriasis.

Application of Multi-Frequency Electromagnetic Profiling in Studying the Distribution of Bronze in Jinsha Ruin Worship

Abstract

Like the Sanxingdui ruins, the Jinsha ruins are an important archaeological site in the Chengdu Plain. Excavation of these ruins may offer important evidence for the origins and evolution of the ancient Shu civilization. In order to protect historical relics during excavation, it is necessary to use a nondestructive approach when determining the distribution of those relics. Multi-frequency electromagnetic profiling is one nondestructive geophysical exploration technique. With this method, the metal bodies underground can be detected based on the different conductivities of rocks and minerals in the crust. In the present paper, multi-frequency electromagnetic profiling was used to study the distribution of bronze in the sacrifice area of the Jinsha ruins, and the data were processed with multi electromagnetic dipole forward modeling. The distribution of bronze derived from multifrequency electromagnetic profiling was in accordance with the results of site excavation, proving that multi-frequency electromagnetic profiling method is an effective and nondestructive means of assessing the distribution of bronze ware in archaeological ruins.

Image Quality Assessment Method for Underwater Acoustic Communication Based on Digital Watermarking

Abstract

This paper proposes a method of reduced-reference image quality assessment based on watermarking algorithm in underwater acoustic channel. By embedding the watermark image into the original one, then delivering the combined image through the channel distortion, the same channel distortion would be exposed to the original and the watermark image. In the receiver,we use the blind extraction methods to recover the watermark image and use the watermark degradation to evaluate the quality of the original one. In this paper,we build three kinds of channels: AWGN channel, Rice fading channel and GB model channel to validate the feasibility of the method which would be used in the underwater acoustic channel.

An Enhanced Scheme in Controlling Both Coverage and Quality of Service in Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract

With the increasing number of applications for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), different Quality of Services (QoS) levels based on the type of applications are required. An increasing research interest has been noted in the provision of QoS support in WSNs. QoS support in WSNs is challenging because of very limited resources, such as battery power, processing power, memory, and bandwidth. An earlier study introduced a QoS control approach based on the Gur Game. The Gur Game-based scheme can maintain QoS without knowing the total number of sensors. However, the Gur Game-based scheme does not consider the active sensor coverage. The problems of collecting redundant data and wasting bandwidth and battery energy arise if active sensors are distributed too densely or too sparsely. Therefore, this study proposes a Coverage-Aware QoS Control (CAQC) to achieve both QoS and coverage control using an enhanced reward function. Simulations that compared our scheme with previous studies in various environments indicated that CAQC creates a robust sensor network capable of achieving both QoS and coverage targets.
