This issue has been prepared thanks to support from the “Territorial reforms in Europe – a comparative perspective” Research Project_ The Project was funded by the Narodowe Centrum Nauki (National Science Centre) in Poland, grant number 2017/26/M/HS5/00152_ The idea for a joint issue of the journal emerged during discussions conducted during the seminar organized in Warsaw as part of the Project on 26-27 April 2019_ The goal of the seminar was to discuss the processes and results of municipal territorial reforms in Europe in a comparative perspective_ The authors of the articles published in this issue were recruited mainly from among the participants of that seminar_
