Employee Satisfaction with Training Opportunities and its Relation to Internal Marketing

Pubblicato online: 09 Sep 2017
Pagine: 7 - 16

Astratto

Abstract

The article aims to find a link between employee training and satisfaction with educational activities and marketing efforts of the organization. Qualification growth of employees is closely connected to the organization’s success. Since obstacles in education hinder achieving desirable results, they need to be identified and overcome.

Theoretical background and knowledge was confronted with data collected in primary research. Interviewing was used as the method and questionnaire as the instrument. Data were statistically analysed and results of chi-square were calculated in software Statgraphics.

Testing the relationship between barriers in training involvement of employees and their socio-economic characteristics proved that, gender, age, education level, sector of economy, length of current employment, and income satisfaction are independent. The only relevant dependence is apparent in case of fear of failure which is a barrier indicated for low income people.

This article clarifies the state of satisfaction with education possibilities of employees through identifying of the main barriers and concludes consequences for sustainable growth of organization.

Curriculation and Competence Based Education Training (CBET) in Tanzania: A Critical Assessment of Public Administration and Management (PAM) Curricula at Tanzania Public Service College (TPSC)

Pubblicato online: 09 Sep 2017
Pagine: 17 - 40

Astratto

Abstract

The article directs the discourse in Public Administration and Management (PAM) curricula at Tanzania Public Service College. The motive for this attempt is based on the fact that Public Administration (PA) is itself recognized as a profession whose teaching aims at producing competent professionals and therefore needs constant review to conform to the current work complexities. Five big questions and content analysis are used as the basis for directing the discourse. The findings indicate that curriculation for PAM is complex and dynamic. Moreover, the findings indicate that the two curricula are more vocational than educational as there is little weight allocated for occupational course modules (36 out of 360 in PA) and (126 out of 360 in HRM). This may pose the danger of “pourtpouri” problem in curriculum design. The article proposes rethinking interventions on curriculation for PAM at TPSC to benefit from Public Administration discipline.

Human Resource Reforms in Public Administration: The Importance of the Reward System

Pubblicato online: 09 Sep 2017
Pagine: 49 - 58

Astratto

Abstract

Human resource management encompasses administrating and managing human resources or otherwise known as employees. The HR or Human Resources department of any company, whether it be public or private, deals with the day to aspects pertaining to employees, from the recruitment process to probably the most important aspect for any employee; remuneration and benefits. The importance of finding a perfect equilibrium between monetary and non-monetary incentives is crucial in obtaining an efficient work environment, as well as increasing productivity and employee motivation. Having an administrative background or knowledge is essential for any HR manager, in order to detect and implement the most beneficial reward system for both implicated parties.

This paper aims to examine human resource reforms in public administration, primarily in reference to the remunerations of civil servants and employees by giving examples of the importance of salary within the structure of human resource management, looking at new laws involving the increase of salaries within the near future, concluding with suggestions on improving the reward system implemented by human resource managers in Romania’s system of public administration.

How to stop the snowball growth? A way for sustaining public debt over generations

Pubblicato online: 09 Sep 2017
Pagine: 59 - 68

Astratto

Abstract

Why public debts are growing so fast in most developing countries, like a dangerous snowball which is growing and growing and no one can stop it? It is only a negative relation between high debt and real growth of economy? How can we definitively remove the Ricardian anxiety which called debt a “terrible scourge”? These are only few questions asked in the last century in relation with debt “overhang” not only by scholars, but by governments as well. This paper aims to answer to other questions like: Why debt’s rate grows faster than GDP? Why governments borrow? For current spending or for public investments? Who should benefits current loans? Who should pay for them and when? How should be the taxation along the economic cycle: neutral or countercyclical? Need we a model to sustain the public debt over generations, or it is good enough to maintain a good ration between real GDP growth and debt and that’s it?

Violence, Faith, and Women in Romanian Literature

Pubblicato online: 09 Sep 2017
Pagine: 69 - 78

Astratto

Abstract

This essay offers a gendered reading of the confluence of violence and faith in Romanian literature, through a reading of two texts: Tatiana Bran’s “Deadly Confession”, and Elie Wiesel’s “Night”. While the former looks at the violence visited upon women in the context of religion and faith, the latter seeks to locate the place of women in the course of the loss of faith in a male context. The essay embeds these readings within the larger context of women and violence in Romanian literature from the 19th century to the present. While the instance of Bran’s novel serves as representative of much of this literature, the example of Wiesel’s autobiographical narrative is uniquely contextualized by the field of Holocaust literature. Nevertheless, it is possible to see these two readings – one, a woman authored text of violence against women, the other, a male authored text of women as a refuge from violence – as complementing each other in the ways in which women respond to faith and the loss of faith.

Abstract

The study of the going concern audit opinions is an important component within the enhancement of firms’ responsibility and stewardship. A going concern audit opinions implies that the independent auditor doubt the future of the firm. This study aimed to examine the drivers of the likelihood of the going-concern audit opinions. Previous studies revealed that there were inconsistent drivers influencing the going-concern audit opinion. This study shows similar results to prior works. The result indicates that firms’ financial condition and profitability significantly affect the likelihood of the going-concern audit opinion, while firms’ size and leverage are not the determinants of the intensity of the going concern audit opinion.

Research & Development through a gender lens – the case of Romania and Iceland

Pubblicato online: 09 Sep 2017
Pagine: 106 - 115

Astratto

Abstract

For many years, gender equality has been on the agenda of various stakeholders from different sectors of activity and from different levels of action. However, information regarding the participation of women to research and development remains scarce and insufficient for assessing the progress towards equality related goals in this area. This paper aims to explore the participation of women to the research & development sector in two selected European countries – Romania and Iceland. Thus, the present study is focused on the presence of women in a highly specialized sector that contributes to the creation of a competitive, knowledge-based society. Data on research and development personnel are analyzed from a comparative perspective in order to assess how Romania and Iceland perform in the field of gender equality in research and development sector. The findings of this paper show that women are still underrepresented in specific sectors of performance, as well as in some fields of science. Due to data lacking, analysis on the presence of women in management position in research and development couldn’t be performed. So, better and more comparable statistics on gender equality issues in science is needed for ensuring a more accurate image of women participation.
