Abstract

The Indonesian government is targeting leather products, especially from West Java to become one of the export commodities that will encourage national economic growth. The existence of a leather industry particularly in the city of Garut has attracted many Indonesian researchers over the years to investigate the condition through many fields of research. However, the latest research identified several barriers related to the leather business development in Garut city, which was related to the optimization ratio of its performance and product quality. This study aimed to design a quality management model and key performance indicators to make this sector competitive in the global market. The research method used was inductive with a qualitative approach and a constructivist grounded theory in developing a quality management model. Theoretical and snowball sampling was chosen in identifying potential participants. Activating Large Lecture Financial Learning: Collaboration and Clickers During Covid-19

Pubblicato online: 19 Aug 2021
Pagine: 49 - 63

Astratto

Abstract

This paper examines our approach to teaching a large-lecture personal finance course promoting students’ financial literacy. We identify the context of this course, including the rationale for large-enrolment courses and issues with the format in general, describing how using clickers and active learning strategies results in increased engagement, attendance, and critical thinking. Learning outcomes designed to support student formation of both internal and external views of finance are holistic and expansive, broader than measures of wealth accumulation alone. Moreover, a strategic initiative focused on career readiness aligns specific competencies with course content focused on developing transferrable skills through practical, real-world examples designed to engage problem-solving and critical thinking. This pragmatic and practical focus linked these transferable skills to a framework of learning grounded in the twin concepts of financial capability and competency. Additionally, we address how Covid-19 disrupted these courses, detailing adjustments necessitated by the new reality of social distancing while adjusting our approach to student participation as we met simultaneously in face-to-face and synchronous Zoom sessions. We concluded that additional considerations must include equitable access to resources based on our pandemic experience. Future research should examine these adjustments in light of developing culturally responsive methods to promote equitable learning.

Pubblicato online: 19 Aug 2021
Pagine: 102 - 108

Abstract

The Health Reform of the country is a very difficult burden for two reasons: firstly, we need an appropriate economy level in the country, that can bear the new health model, established through reform, and secondly, the country needs a health system that is appropriate either for its economic system or for its tradition and history. Health reformers need to match all the points of the health reform concept, its implementation, and the systems of the country. Due to its Soviet past, Georgia struggled in the last twenty years to find an effective and cost efficient health model for its citizens. Starting from the 90s, Georgia instituted three health reforms and finally found some sustainable measures. The present article explores the three waves of the Georgian Health Care reforms, and analyses the factors of their success and the reasons for their failures. The importance of studying the Health Care systems is derived from Sustainable Development Goals targeting Health issues including health-related topics to improve the population’s health and wellbeing as well as achieve universal coverage of health services. The research contributes to the knowledge regarding the Health Care Reforms, and their practical implications on a country.
