Implementation of a Pull System – A Case Study of a Polymeric Production System for the Automotive Industry

Publicado en línea: 14 Dec 2021
Páginas: 253 - 259

Resumen

Abstract

This work, developed as a case study, propose, describe, and evaluates an implementation of a pull system in a SME company producing polymeric components for the automotive industry. The production system of the company was based on the push paradigm, which creates high stock levels and high lead times. The main purpose was to develop a pull production system controlled by Kanbans in the painting line. To achieve this goal, this case study demonstrates the application of relevant lean tools, such as, VSM, SMED, Kanban System, Supermarkets and Leveling. Through the SMED’s application, it was possible to reduce the setup times in 38% and make annual earnings of approximately 83000€. The application of a Kanban System, Leveling and Supermarket enabled the WIP’s reduction between injection and painting in 56% and, also, between painting and expedition in 45%. Also, the lead time decreased and the value-added time increased. Thus, this is an exemplary case study for the implementation of a pull system and can be used both by practitioners and researchers interested in this theme.

Dynamic Control of Discharge Energy During WEDM for the Purpose of Eliminating Vibrations of the Wire Tool Electrode

Publicado en línea: 14 Dec 2021
Páginas: 260 - 265

Resumen

Abstract

Production in all industry fields is currently affected by new scientific and technical knowledge and the requirements for its rapid deployment. In many cases, the most modern and highly sophisticated technical systems are applied. Simultaneously, fully automated production systems are rather successfully used and progressive production technologies are implemented. In most cases, there is an integral part of a management system that operates the challenging technological processes. These processes would not be executable without the system’s precise control, which provides a suitable precondition for ensuring the high quality of manufactured products. However, the customer’s demanding requirements are not always met. These involve increased requests for the quality of the final product due to the reduction of the tolerance band and application of high-strength materials. This paper aims to describe one of the solutions by which it is possible to achieve a higher quality of the machined surface after wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM). The solution proposes that through dynamic management, the WEDM process eliminates the vibrations of the wire tool electrode and thereby achieves a substantial increase in the quality of the eroded area in terms of its geometric accuracy. With the support of an extensive database of information with precise exchange of information, the proposed system will allow to control the electro discharge process with regard to the optimal way of operation of the electro discharge machine on the basis of individually selected conditions.

Research of Microstructure of Molybden Doped Weldings of Oil and Gas Pipelines

Publicado en línea: 14 Dec 2021
Páginas: 274 - 279

Resumen

Abstract

Still existing scientific, technical and technological developments to improve the quality of welded joints of metal pipe structures contain contradictions and uncertainty about the effects of alloying elements, such as molybdenum, mechanical and visco-plastic properties, as well as metallographic component joints. All this indicates the need for a systematic study of these problems for the development of rational metallurgical and technological measures to significantly improve the technological and corrosion-mechanical properties of weld metal. Metallographic studies, using laboratory equipment with high identifying ability, found that the doping of weld metal with molybdenum in the amount of 0.2-0.4% causes fragmentation of ferrite-pearlite structure, including carbides Mn and Fe, and also reduces the number and size of non-metallic inclusions – sulfides, oxides and silicates. Moreover, non-metallic inclusions have a dispersed appearance, which promotes plasticization of the structure, which directly increases the viscous-plastic characteristics and resistance of the metal joints to crack formation. Based on the results of metallographic research, the optimum content in the weld metal of the alloyed element – molybdenum, which is 0.2-0.4%, is determined.

Blades Interaction and Non-Stationarity of Flow in Vertical-Axial Wind Turbines

Publicado en línea: 14 Dec 2021
Páginas: 280 - 286

Resumen

Abstract

Until recently, horizontal-axial wind turbines with blades having a wing profile occupied a predominant position in the world wind energy market. But currently, vertical-axial wind units are of increasing interest and this is understandable from the point of view of their important features as: no requirements for the orientation of the wind turbine to the wind, the possibility of placing electrical and other equipment on the ground, no requirements for changes of blade chord installation angle along its length. The article discusses the aerodynamics of the vertical-axis wind turbines: the range of changes of angles of incoming flow attack on the blade, the dynamics of changes in the magnitude of the absolute speed of flow of the blade on a circular trajectory of its movement depending on the turbine rapidity, and also obtained in experiments interaction effect of the blades in the rotor. The experiments were carried out on wind turbines with original blades (basic version), which were designed to eliminate the shortcomings of low-speed rotors Savonius (low coefficient of use of wind energy) and high-speed rotors Darrieus (lack of self-start).

Wear Resistance Improvement of Linear Block-Polyurethanes Under Conditions of Liquid Friction

Publicado en línea: 14 Dec 2021
Páginas: 287 - 293

Resumen

Abstract

A significant disadvantage of parts made of linear block polyurethanes under conditions of friction contact in the presence of an aqueous medium is the intensification of hydrolysis processes and decrease in volume strength. It was proposed to slow down the hydrolysis of polyurethanes in three ways: by directed changes in chemical structure, by electromagnetic radiation of different intensities and by creation of composite materials, based on the principle of additional intermolecular crosslinking at the manufacturing and hot processing stages. The conditions for the formation of a smooth wear-resistant surface that protects the material from rapid destruction are revealed.
