What Can Be Done About the Weakness of Investment in Germany?

In addition to an economic slump, Germany is suffering above all from structural problems such as energy supply uncertainties, an excessively high tax and contribution burden, rampant bureaucracy and a shortage of labour and skilled workers. As a result, German companies complain about weak investment. With the Wachstumschancengesetz (Growth Opportunities Act), the Federal Minister of Finance plans to promote the investment activities of companies. Some economists say the law is a step in the right direction, but other questions arise: Are the measures planned by the government su˚cient? What possibilities are there to promote and increase investment activity?
