Dr. Zsigmond Jakabházy (1867–1945) was among the inaugural presidents of the Hungarian Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences, which is celebrating its centenary. He graduated from the University of Cluj with a degree in medicine, where he subsequently became a faculty member. He was involved in the pharmaceutical education by teaching pharmacology/pharmacognosy. After 1920, his activities continued at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Budapest. In 1924, he was a founding member of the Hungarian Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences, serving as its president from 1935 to 1943.
