The use of digital technology has become pervasive in contemporary society, fundamentally affecting the way people communicate, learn, and think. This article analyzes the risks associated with technology overuse, including those related to mental health, social relationships and academic performance, and examines its negative effects on essential traditional skills such as handwriting, deep reading, and critical thinking. It provides a systematic literature review that integrates data from recent research in cognitive psychology and educational science. Conclusions emphasize the need to balance the use of technology with the development of basic skills, and solutions are proposed to mitigate the negative effects of excessive technology use.
