The Integrated Management System (IMS) is a well-documented and consistent system enabling effective and simultaneous management of many aspects of a business’ operations through defining and realizing a consistent policy. To be able to say that management is rational and thought-out is to point towards a managing object and a managed object. Management is the action causing the managed object to behave in accordance with the managing object’s decisions. Therefore, a correctly and effectively functioning object must have precisely defined goals, which it will realise under management. In 2010, the Integrated Management System had been implemented in the largest mining company in Europe – the Polish Mining Group (Polska Grupa Górnicza S.A.) in Katowice. The article presents the perception of IMS by employees in the mine where it was implemented and operates. Survey results (related to IMS) point towards the workers’ knowledge (or lack thereof).
