The aim of the Central European Economic Journal is to present the diversity of economic sciences and to shape the image of contemporary economics as a discipline that is open to interdisciplinarity, current economic phenomena, new challenges, and research trends. Therefore, Central European Economic Journal publishes high quality, original theoretical and empirical research papers in the field of economics as well as at the intersection of economics and sociology, demography, political science, law and management. CEEJ addresses the broad international community, but especially welcomes papers which focus on socio-economic problems relevant to Central and Eastern Europe, including the European transition countries.

The journal accepts papers which fall under (but are not restricted to) the following research areas:

  • macro- and microeconomics,
  • labour market research,
  • international trade,
  • population studies,
  • public sector economics,
  • public policies,
  • health, gender, ecological economics,
  • finance, accounting,
  • managerial economics.

Central European Economic Journal is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal. In this model, the reviewers don’t know the paper's authors, and the authors don’t know who the reviewers are either. Reviewers do not receive any remuneration for their work.

CEEJ does not charge for the publishing process nor for the approval of the text for publication. All papers are available in electronic version (eISSN 2543-6821), both at the CEEJ website and at Sciendo (DeGruyter) Open platform.

CEEJ publishes one volume/issue per year and operates on a continuous publication model. CEEJ provides immediate open access to its content under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Until 2022, CEEJ used the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.

CEEJ accepts two types of papers: original research papers and opinion papers, with the latter type accepted only in Special Issues dedicated to special occasions (see below).
