Balcanica Posnaniensia. Acta et studia (BP) is a yearbook published by the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznañ (Faculty of History). It aims to exchange and popularize knowledge of the past and contemporary issues of states and nations in South-Eastern Europe. Between 1984 and 2009, it was first published as a serial (thematic issues), and from 2009 turned into a yearbook (thematic and mixed). The journal deals with the Balkan area using an interdisciplinary approach. The BP's leading discipline is history; however, the monographs also contain reference to culture, art history, linguistics, religion, sociology or politics. Therefore, the journal presents intercultural and interdisciplinary research, encompassing various methodologies and research perspectives. It provides a forum for the presentation of research results, exchange of thoughts, and discussions on the theory and practice that compose Balkan studies today. The journal is open to scientific dialogue and polemics. All articles and scientific essays are peer-reviewed. The content is published primarily in Polish and English, but appears in French, German, Russian or the Slavic languages of the Balkan Peninsula as well. Moreover, the journal contains reviews, biographies of great scholars concerned with the Balkan matters as well as documentation of various scientific events related to the Balkans, organised both in Poland and across the world. The journal is created by an international team of experts (the Editorial Board), international group of authors and international reviewers. The Editorial Board is composed of researchers from Poland and the Balkans, reputed for their extensive knowledge of different aspects of Balkan studies.

Peer review process
Each paper is rewieved by two mutually independent reviewers. Since papers are submitted in languages not spoken in Poland, at least one of the reviewers is affiliated to a foreign academic institution. The requirements that should be met are specified in the review form. Each review results in an eventual statement as to the acceptance/lack of acceptance of the text. Reviews have a written form and are prepared in compliance with double-blind peer review model. It implies that both referees and authors do not know each other’s identities. Assisting staff will, then, take care of removing authors’ names from the metadata (document properties). Temporarily, for the purposes of reviewing process, authors’ names, addresses and e-mails, will be deleted also from submitted files that are sent to reviewers. Reviewers’ names will be revealed not later than six months after a print version is issued.
