<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

<p>Type two diabetes has become a civilization disease in the recent years, and the accompanying obesity, metabolic syndrome and non-alcoholic fatty liver are often the inseparable components of the clinical presentation in patients with diabetes of this type. The treatment of each of these elements is important for optimal metabolic control of the patients, as well as directly affecting their life expectancy. However, The ideal solution would be to take as few drugs as possible, preferably drugs that have a beneficial effect on several coexisting diseases at the same time. In the recent years, there have been more and more reports about the pleiotropic effect of drugs affecting the incretin axis - GLP-1 analogues. The presented paper provides an overview of the latest knowledge on the effect of GLP-1 receptor agonists on weight reduction and reduction of changes in the course of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.</p>
