The article attempts to provide an answer to the questions concerning dimensions and aspects of morphological phenomena which result from the internationalization of the Polish lexicon both at the turn of the 20th and 21th centuries and in recent years. The main objective of the paper is to prove that (i) under the influence of new borrowings, new meanings are created in the newly “transplanted” forms; (ii) new composite expressions become more dominant; (iii) the scope of new hybrid lexical items broadens. A current tendency to undergo internationalization is viewed here as being inextricably bound up with “linguistic globalization” processes, which finds its confirmation in modern European languages, Slavic languages included.
