<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Seven genomic SSR markers of <italic>Eucalyptus</italic> were developed from DNA sequences of <italic>E. grandis</italic> deposited in GenBank. Their repeat motifs were revealed by resequencing with an individual tree of <italic>E. urophylla</italic> or <italic>E. tereticornis</italic>, and five out of the seven markers turned out to be heterozygous within the specific tree sequenced. The sequence identity ranged from 75.06% to 96.66%, with an average of 87.31%. These markers could be valuable in genetics studies in <italic>Eucalyptus</italic>. This report demonstrates the advantages of re-sequencing in developing SSR markers from publicly accessible databases.</p></abstract>
