The coalition agreement of the new federal government contains various objectives for strengthening Germany as an industrial site: reducing bureaucracy, shortening approval procedures and expanding infrastructure. In times of changing geo-economic risks, security and the resilience of supply chains have become an additional justification for an active industrial policy. The contributions to this Zeitgespräch gather ideas on how a holistically designed industrial policy can strengthen the competitiveness of the German economy and promote sustainable structural change. For this to have a long-term effect, it is important to coordinate national and European solutions and take political and economic realities into account.
