<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

<p>All species of <italic>Phyllosticta</italic> described on <italic>Photinia</italic> up to now are definitely not species of the genus <italic>Phyllosticta</italic>. On <italic>Photinia</italic> × <italic>fraseri</italic> a pathogen was found which - based on morphological characteristics - definitively belongs to <italic>Phyllosticta</italic> and is named <italic>Phyllosticta photiniae</italic>-<italic>fraseri</italic>.</p>

All species of Phyllosticta described on Photinia up to now are definitely not species of the genus Phyllosticta. On Photinia × fraseri a pathogen was found which - based on morphological characteristics - definitively belongs to Phyllosticta and is named Phyllosticta photiniae-fraseri.
