The mean value of VV-polarized backscatter σvv0$$\sigma _{vv}^0 $$ decreases more for orbit pairs 160–058 (daytime) or 080–007 (nighttime) compared to σvv0$$\sigma _{vv}^0 $$ at smaller incidence angles. Daytime σvv0$$\sigma _{vv}^0 $$ is greater compared to nighttime measurements.
