Thermoforming is one of the oldest technologies for the manufacture of plastic products. This originates in prehistory, but today, new additive manufacturing technologies can contribute to the production of moulds, tools, or accessories, which can be used in other traditional manufacturing processes. Manufacturing such moulds for thermoforming is a challenging technical problem due to the multitude of equipment, materials, design, and process constraints that must be considered. To identify and organize the large amount of information, it is imperative to implement a method based on stimulating technical creativity. Following the application of the 3-level idea diagram method, the material resources susceptible to experimental testing are established and include equipment, software, materials, tools, and accessories. The current study resulted in the manufacture of a new product that does not exist on the market, namely a thermoformed desktop business card holder.
