Media convergence change brings opportunities and challenges for the news communication industry but also puts forward new requirements for news communication education. This paper takes the necessary qualities of journalism talents under the trend of media convergence as the starting point, discusses the integration of traditional and emerging media in terms of content as well as interaction and form, and the transformation path of journalism and communication education in colleges and universities. The structural equation modeling algorithm is introduced, and the covariance matrix is used to analyze the relationship between media convergence and journalism and communication education. After analyzing the structural equation, it was found that media convergence has an important influence on the quality and transformation trend of journalism and communication education. Media convergence students’ participation and mastery of media convergence skills positively affect their journalism quality, and teachers’ media convergence practice resources affect the employment of fusion media counterparts. Teachers’ media integration skill level positively affects the quality of journalism and communication education, teachers’ media integration skill level positively affects the adaptability of fusion media work capacity, frequency of media integration technology use positively affects fusion media work capacity, and media integration skill mastery positively affects fusion media work capacity. The hypotheses were all proved, and all were significant at, and all were significant at the level of P<0.01. This paper verifies the role relationship between media convergence and journalism and communication education, and provides theoretical support for the transformation of journalism and communication teaching in colleges and universities.
