The paper presents a method developed and improved over many years (since 1982) by a team of researchers of the Faculty of Architecture of Wrocław University of Science and Technology for elaborating on guidelines for the conservation of cultural landscape areas. Thanks to systematic research – studies of the past changes to the landscape and analyses of the current state of affairs – they enable a synthesis of the whole spectrum of conservation protection and revalorisation problems of the area under development. They provide an appropriate basis for the preparation of planning documents. The use of their content is facilitated by an unambiguous, precise and easy-to-read graphical presentation. Currently, the technique of preparing conservation guidelines in their entirety or in certain selected aspects is applied by all graduates of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology in works requiring analysis of fragments of the cultural landscape.
