Aesthetic medicine and aesthetic medicine services are not legally defined concepts. Social changes related to increasing attention to one’s appearance result in a wider use of not only cosmetic services, but also medical services of a non-therapeutic nature from the area of aesthetic medicine. Despite the lack of comprehensive legal regulations, the scope of such services is increasing, and the number of their beneficiaries is growing year by year. The legal system should guarantee the clarity of appropriate regulations for unaware decision-makers who want to improve their appearance. There is an absolute necessity to amend art. 2 sec. 1 point 10 of the Act on Medical Treatment in order to properly arrange the provision of services in the field of aesthetic medicine and to protect its beneficiaries.
