This paper is concerned with the problems and the difficulties faced when translating in Romanian Cuore (Heart): An Italian Schoolboy’s Journal by De Amicis, an extremely important book that left a mark on the cultural history of Romania for being until recently part of the Primary School Curriculum. The aim is to create awareness for the necessity of identifying evaluation criteria for the translation of literature for children. In this regard, the translational activity and its product will be discussed from an analytic and diachronic perspective, requested by the interdisciplinary approach inherent to translation criticism.
