The title’s history in brief

„Polski Rocznik Muzykologiczny” – Polish Musicological Yearbook – was initiated by Adolf Chybiński in 1935. However, only two volumes were then issued (the second one in 1936). After nearly 70 years, in 2004, the Musicological Section of the Polish Composers’ Union came back to that project and published the third issue, dedicated to two founders of Polish musicology: professors Zdzisław Jachimecki and Adolf Chybiński.

Now, the Polish Musicological Yearbook represent the whole spectrum of Polish scholars’ activity, including proceedings of musicological conferences organized yearly by the Polish Composers’ Union. It contains papers in two languages: Polish and English.

In 2024, we started implementing the project entitled: ‘Increasing the visibility of the Polish Musicological Yearbook in 2024–2025 on the national and international forum’, possible thanks to support under the ‘Journals’ government program.

Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Polish Republic from the means of the Culture Promotion Fund.

The Patron of the „Polski Rocznik Muzykologiczny” – Polish Musicological Yearbook is the Society of Authors ZAiKS.
