This study aims to obtain an accurate prediction model of mechanical properties of woven fabric to achieve customer satisfaction. Samples of plain woven fabric were produced from different yarn counts and blend ratios of cotton and polyester of weft yarn at different weft densities. Mechanical properties such as tensile strength, bending stiffness and elongation% in both the warp and weft directions were tested. The prediction model was based on Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). For each model, thirty-nine samples were used for training and fifteen for testing prediction performance. Findings indicated that the ANN achieved a perfect performance in predicting all properties.

In this study, from the perspective of Hanfu elements, the evolution and innovative design of cloud shoulder adornments in the Ming and Qing dynasties were systematically examined. Through methods such as literature research, data collection, and practical research, the origins, development, and their association with the historical and cultural context were revealed. The study found that the cloud shoulder adornments in the Ming and Qing dynasties underwent a process of evolution from simplicity to complexity and from uniformity to diversity in terms of design and patterns. These changes reflected the shifting aesthetic concepts of the time and the pursuit of clothing aesthetics, enriching the design elements and aesthetic connotations of cloud shoulder adornments. The findings of this research provide inspiration for modern designers to create Hanfu works with distinctive characteristics and individuality. The significance of this study lies in uncovering the evolutionary process and design features of cloud shoulder adornments in the Ming and Qing dynasties, offering important references and inspirations for related research and creative endeavors. By integrating traditional elements with modern design concepts, we can promote the inheritance and development of Chinese traditional culture, as well as the dissemination and application of Hanfu in contemporary times. This holds positive implications for the revival of Hanfu culture and the preservation of traditional heritage.

Evolution and Innovative Design of Cloud Shoulder Adornments in Ming and Qing Dynasties from the Perspective of Hanfu Elements

Herbal extract-induced metallic nanoparticles have replaced the traditionally synthesized nanoparticles to achieve sustainability in antimicrobial textiles. Silver nanoparticles (NPs) were created by the bio-reducion of silver nitrate with eucalyptus corymbia leaf extract. The bi-lateral activities of herbal extract, like the reduction and capping of silver nanoparticles, have added new dimensions in the bactericidal sector. Silver nanoparticles were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, a particle size analyzer, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and X-ray diffractometry. In this study these biosynthesized nanoparticles were applied on cotton fabric alone and along with chitosan by the pad-dry-cure method to create antibacterial clothing. Antibacterial efficiency was characterized using the colony counting method (serial dilution method). The treated fabric shows excellent antibacterial efficiency.

Herbal Extract-Induced Silver Nanoparticles For Antibacterial Cotton Fabric

As the spread of Covid-19 has created a fatal threat to human survival, a comfortable and virus-deactivated functional face mask is extremely necessary. Herein, an appropriate thermally comfortable and highly breathable as well as virus-protecting functional knit fabric face mask was developed that consisted of multichannel PE Coolmax® yarn with cotton yarn. Due to the multichannel structure (four and six channels) of PE Coolmax® yarn with cotton yarn blended fabric, the fiber showed good filtration efficiency, air permeability, water vapour permeability and moisture management properties. In addition, the thermal conductivity and absorptive properties of the blended fabric based on the properties of PE Coolmax® yarn with cotton yarn make the face mask more comfortable for the user.

The purpose of this study is to discuss how “Chinese-style” clothing is integrated into the international fashion market by applying traditional Chinese clothing design elements in the context of globalization. This research defined four design elements of traditional Chinese clothing through literature analysis, which mainly consisted of colors, silhouettes, fabrics and crafts. Then professional researchers selected four representative enterprises oriented to the international market from a large quantity of “Chinese-style” enterprises and compared the design works officially released by the four “Chinese-style” enterprises with the four design elements by Nvivo12. Through analyzing 1,176 pieces of Chinese-style design works of the four representative enterprises, the study found that “Chinese-style” enterprises oriented to the international market comprehensively apply traditional Chinese clothing design elements to conduct innovative design to show their own cultural identities to a large extent.

Composite phase-change nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning with polyethylene glycol (PEG) as the phase-change material (PCM) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as the carrier matrix. The high PEG content endowed the nanofibers with an excellent cooling effect and significantly reduced the smoke temperature. For PEG70/PVP nanofibers, the smoke temperature can be decreased 45℃ at the 8th puff, and be kept below 45℃. The cooling test proved that the electrospun PEG/PVP phase-change nanofibers exhibited a desirable cooling performance, improving the comfort of cigarette products. And the composite PEG/PVP phase-change nanofibers present great potential as the cooling cigarette filter material for HnB tobacco application.

Combined with Laplace transform and creep stress conditions, an accurate expression of the viscoelastic Poisson's ratio calculated from the transverse strain and relax modulus is derived. From creep and relax tests data, Prony series of the transverse strain and relax modulus of nonwovens with time were obtained, and the time-varying curve of the viscoelastic Poisson's ratio of nonwovens was simulated by 1stOpt software. The method proposed can effectively obtain the viscoelastic Poisson's ratio of nonwovens and provide a reference value for calculating mechanical indexes involved in its subsequent production and processing.

In this study, denim fabrics were produced using weft yarns obtained from mechanically recycled fibers after consumer use, and the breaking strength, tearing strength, thermal resistance, water vapor permeability, air permeability, and fabric stiffness of these fabrics were determined according to the standards. A life cycle analysis of the recycled denim fabrics was made using the SimaPro software program, and the environmental effects of the production were also revealed. Within the scope of the study, it was observed that the structural properties of the fabrics produced and the composition of recycled cotton used affect the performance and comfort properties of the fabric. The effect of the cotton recycling rate on the recycled denim fabrics was evaluated by LCA (life cycle analysis). As a result of the LCA evaluation, with the use of cotton with a high percentage of recycling additives instead of the conventional cotton, as in the reference fabric, resource depletion (fossil fuels), global warming, depletion of the ozone layer, the toxic effect on human, freshwater and terrestrial life, the total water use, and other categories were observed to undergo a significant improvement.

Folk textile is important part of tangible heritage in Lithuania and Western Ukraine. Comparable analysis of folk bedspreads is relevant for visual representation of the national identity of both countries. The aim of the paper is to analyse and compare structural parameters and colour combinations of folk bedspreads from Western Ukraine and Lithuania, seeking to find and highlight their universal and unique parameters. The materials, techniques, patterns and colouring of Western Ukrainian and Lithuanian bedspreads were compared. In some cases, very similar principles of decoration were discovered, but some Lithuanian and Ukrainian bedspreads were completely different.

Textile signal lines are some of the more significant parts of an electronic system incorporated in modern smart garments. These applications often need to make lines that are disconnectable. The article presents the construction of two textile connectors that can connect direct current textile electro-conductive lines. These connectors are mostly made of textile materials and are an alternative to conventional connectors or connectors using snap fasteners. The article presents basic research on the electrical properties of the connectors proposed. The present research examined the influence of the size and shape of the connector contacts on their resistance, measured after each disconnection and reconnection of both parts of the connectors. The article also presents research on the dependence of the electrical resistance of the connectors on the pressure force of their textile contacts. The test results presented, and their statistical analysis confirmed the suitability of the connectors presented for applications in e-textiles.
