The Vietnamese Journal of Legal Sciences (abbreviation VJLS) is a thrice-annual journal that aims to provide a platform for the dissemination of high-quality, peer-reviewed research across diverse realms of law and policies with contemporary relevance. It was founded under the initiative of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, a leading legal educational and training institution in Vietnam. VJLS aims to foster intellectual discourse and contribute to the advancement of legal scholarship.

The VJLS provides a platform for national and international discussion on topics in both public and private law, as well as interdisciplinary contributions that are relevant to legal studies. In particular, the VJLS focuses on publishing articles, book reviews, case commentaries and other such which analyse the recent developments related to legal issues raised in Vietnam or other countries in the context of globalization and modernization. Therefore, contributions related to the following topics will be highly encouraged: 

  • Challenges and opportunities, as well as legal issues in emerging economies in the region: Focusing on Vietnam and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region, exploring challenges, opportunities, and legal issues in the context of globalization and industrialization;
  • International legal comparisons: Examining legal issues and solutions globally, providing insights and experiences applicable for countries in the Asia Pacific Region; drawing valuable insights from countries facing similar concerns, offering a comparative perspective to guide policy and legal reform;
  • Interdisciplinary submissions: Welcoming contributions intersecting with legal studies that may originate from other disciplines, offering a multifaceted view of how the law interacts with societal changes.

The journal’s activities are supported by an extensive international editorial board, as well as devoted native-speaker language editors. Articles are widely distributed, via printed as well as free-access digital versions, to lecturers, students, researchers and practitioners in the legal field.

The publication periods for the VJLS are Spring (April - June), Fall (August - October), and Winter (November - January).

Open Access Policy

The VJLS is an open-access journal, which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. Authors retain their copyright and agree to license their articles.

Charges

The VJLS is a no-fee journal. Authors are not charged for the publication of their articles.

The VJLS does not accept or display any form of advertising in either its print or online versions, in order to maintain a strict separation between editorial content and commercial interests.
