This paper aims to provide a PESTLE (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal and Environmental) analysis of current trends and changes in the urban goods transport market. The goal is to assess the macro-environmental factors that are affecting innovative solutions for last-mile delivery, and to use this analysis to support decision making and planning for horizontal schemes of collaboration and policy interventions that may be necessary for introducing these solutions successfully and becoming more competitive in practice. By carefully prioritizing these factors, relevant stakeholders can make informed decisions and take effective actions to improve the competitiveness of their operations in the urban goods transport industry.

Optimality criterion and restriction on a possible path for parallel parking are formulated. It is offered a way of choice of a quasi-optimal path for reverse parallel parking. Calculation of Optimal Path for Parallel Car Parking

<abstract><title style='display:none'>Abstract</title>This article proposes a model of systems dynamics for the analysis and study of physical flows in a distribution logistics chain. The proposed model is a decision support tool that allows testing several scenarios in order to study the behavior of physical flows within a supply chain depending on the inventory and transport costs and taking into consideration the environmental issues through the integration of a CO2 tax in transport costs. The developed model can be used to analyze various scenarios and perform various “what-if” analyzes, as well as to answer questions about the long-term operation of distribution chains. The results show that logistic decisions and strategies taken at the supply chain level influence inventory and transport costs. They show also that the model is a well decision-support tool for calculating and analyzing transport and inventory costs. We first expose the methodology and the literature review. Next, we present in detail the structure of the model consisting of the causal loops diagram and stock and flow diagram. Finally, we discuss the results of the model.</abstract>

A Model of Systems Dynamics for Physical Flow Analysis in a Distribution Supply Chain

<abstract><title style='display:none'>Abstract</title>Since the mid-1990s, Colombia’s main airports (including those with the highest traffic) have been privatized, transferring governance to private operators. The remaining airports in the network (the smallest ones) continue with public governance. Based on this, the objective of this research article is to know, analyse and even measure the airport efficiency in a context of structural reform and at the same time compare this with the measure in airports with public governance. The methodology used to carry out the study is the Data Envelopment Analysis, and this methodology uses only “technical variables” (that is, only those related to infrastructure). The main results of the research reveal higher efficiency indices in the major (or more important) airports, almost all of them under private governance, although there is also a group of them (usually very small airports) with very low efficiency levels.</abstract>

Risk evaluation and management is one of the key issues during the planning oversized goods safe transportation and investments into transport infrastructure reconstruction. Usually it is international transportation and decision-making requires through analysis of the problem both, on the national and international scale and only then the most rational decision (transportation route) can be made with the view of the effective risk lowering, i.e. seeking the last possible reconstruction costs. The objective of the risk evaluation when investing into infrastructure reconstruction is to safeguard heavyweight or oversized goods transportation. When making the quantitative and economic assessment of the risk the theory of chances and mathematic statistics are most commonly used methods, because they are denoted to describe an event or process in case of ambiguous possibilities.</abstract>

Recent years have witnessed a colossal increase of vehicles on the roads; unfortunately, the infrastructure of roads and traffic systems has not kept pace with this growth, resulting in inefficient traffic management. Owing to this imbalance, traffic jams on roads, congestions, and pollution have shown a marked increase. The management of growing traffic is a major issue across the world. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have a great potential in offering solutions to such issues by using novel technologies. In this review, the ITS-based solutions for traffic management and control have been categorized as traffic data collection solutions, traffic management solutions, congestion avoidance solutions, and travel time prediction solutions. The solutions have been presented along with their underlying technologies, advantages, and drawbacks. First, important solutions for collecting traffic-related data and road conditions are discussed. Next, ITS solutions for the effective management of traffic are presented. Third, key strategies based on machine learning and computational intelligence for avoiding congestion are outlined. <bold>Fourth, important solutions for accurately predicting travel time are presented.</bold> Finally, avenues for future work in these areas are discussed.

Intelligent Traffic Management: A Review of Challenges, Solutions, and Future Perspectives

The demand for scalable, open and granular networks has enabled mobile networks such as 5G to adopt new concepts including NFV (Network Function Virtualization). NFV separates the dependency of network functions from the hardware component, allowing them to be deployed flexibly and dynamically across network slices. In this way, operators can deliver personalized services and optimize the use of network resources, contributing to greater operational efficiency and an enhanced end-user experience. However, there are several issues to be addressed, such as the security of VNFs and the way in which service provider customers instantiate NSSIs (Network Slice Subnet Instance). In this article, we present a new approach based on blockchain 2.0, which guarantees the immutability of VNFs and templates, as well as highly secure instantiation with access management and support for replay attacks.

Blockchain-Based Security Framework for VNF Package Protection in 5G Network Slicing Services

<title style='display:none'>Abstract</title>
Understanding the main research directions in transport is crucial to provide useful and relevant insights. The analysis of Horizon 2020, the largest research and innovation framework, has been already realized in a few publications but rarely for the field of transport. Thus, this article is devoted to fill this gap by introducing a novel application of topic modelling techniques, specifically the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), in the Horizon 2020 framework for transport projects. The method is using the Mallet software with pre-examined code optimizations. As the first step, a corpus is created by collecting 310 project abstracts; afterward, the texts of abstracts are prepared for the LDA analysis by introducing stop words, optimization criteria, the number of words per topics, and the number of topics. The study successfully uncovers the following five main underlying topics: road and traffic safety, aviation and aircraft, mobility and urban transport, maritime industry and shipping, open and real-time data in transport. Besides that, the main trends in transport are identified based on the frequency of words and their occurrence in the corpus. The applied approach maximizes the added value of the Horizon 2020 initiatives by revealing insights that may be overlooked using traditional analysis methods.

The digitalisation of the supply chain has presented substantial opportunities for companies to enhance resource allocation, pricing strategies, and overall operational efficiency. In this context, researchers play a crucial role in developing novel methodologies and algorithms that can confer a competitive edge to stakeholders. This study employed operational research methods to investigate the specific requirements of researchers in this domain. The results highlight the challenges, motivations, and practical needs experienced by researchers. Additionally, data-related issues and databases were examined to identify areas of improvement. The findings indicate that enhancing researchers' engagement in data-driven solutions for supply chain problems primarily hinges on addressing issues related to data quality, data accessibility, and regular dataset updates. By addressing all the aspects defined in this study, organisations can enhance the practical implementation of findings and drive advancements in supply chain management.

The Needs of Researchers Implementing Supply Chain Digitalisation

<title style='display:none'>Abstract</title>
This paper addresses the vulnerability of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) to malicious attacks, specifically focusing on position falsification attacks. Detecting misbehaving vehicles in VANETs is challenging due to the dynamic nature of the network topology and vehicle mobility. The paper considers five types (constant attack, constant offset attack, random attack, random offset attack, and eventually stop attack) of position falsification attacks with varying traffic and attack densities, considered the most severe attacks in VANETs. To improve the detection of these attacks, a novel travel distance feature and an enhanced two-stage detection approach are proposed for classifying position falsification attacks in VANETs. The approach involves deploying the misbehavior detection system within roadside units (RSUs) by offloading computational work from vehicles (onboard units, or OBUs) to RSUs. The performance of the proposed approach was evaluated against different classifiers, including a wide range of paradigms (KNN, Decision Tree, and Random Forest), using the VeReMi dataset. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method based on Random Forest achieved an accuracy of 99.9% and an F1-Score of 99.9%, which are better not only than those achieved by KNN and Decision Tree but also than the most recent approaches in the literature survey.

Position Falsification Detection Approach Using Travel Distance-Based Feature

<title style='display:none'>Abstract</title>
Electric vehicles are widely regarded as pivotal in driving the sustainability of transportation networks forward, thanks to their capacity to diminish carbon emissions, enhance air quality, and bolster the robustness of electricity grids. The accessibility of charging infrastructure and the subjective norms that endorse electric mobility actively shape the electric vehicles acceptance. In this study, Our main goal is to provide off-grid electric vehicle charging infrastructures and the data communication protocols that connect to servers. We analyze the specifications of the OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) with an emphasis on its applicabillity for electric charging stations for vehicles. Our research concludes that off-grid electric vehicle charging systems can be effectively applied to small electric vehicles such as electric motorcycles, scooters, and bicycles. The OCPP data communication protocol can also support interactions between small electric vehicle charging stations and central server management systems (CSMS). Furthermore, we tested the electric vehicle charging process for a duration of two hours, and the charging station consistently produced stable voltage, current, and power output, matching the inverter outputs and fulfilling the specifications required by electric vehicle charging adapters. Analysis of throughput data indicates a positive correlation between the number of operational ports at a charging station and the volume of data processed by the server. However, beyond a certain threshold a decline in data transactions was observed, attributable to data loss.

Off-Grid Electric Vehicle Charging Station with Integrated Local Server OCPP Protocol as a Management System

The densification of the vehicle fleet leads to numerous challenges in road safety management. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) helps to manage vehicle-vehicle-infrastructure interactivity, in particular to predict dangers and avoid accidents, detect and penalize traffic violations. This requires a massive deployment of communicating nodes embedded in vehicles and in road infrastructure. The reliability of the systems built on these nodes lies in the accuracy of the ranging. In order to improve the factors that impact accuracy, various ranging protocols have been developed, but their implementations most often involve the use of expensive and specialized transceivers, which incorporate a dedicated IEEE 802.15.4a ranging layer. Our approach implements the basic and advanced functions integrated into low-cost transceivers and microcontrollers. As result, in two or three links according to the case, our protocol performs simultaneously the ranging and the data exchange, against a specific ranging session with a minimum of three exchanges for the other protocols. Moreover, each node knows the ranging data and has its clock frequency adapted to the controlled process. So, we meet the challenges of large-scale low-cost node deployment, while ensuring high reliability and performance of ranging.

<abstract><title style='display:none'>Abstract</title>Smart contracts are scripts on the top of the blockchain technology. They represent a form of automation by what the layers of intermediaries can be reduced or even completely replaced. Accordingly, blockchain smart contracting systems decrease transaction and enforcement costs as well as process time.Moreover, we argue, blockchain and smart contracts can facilitate cross-organisational collaboration and their underlying business processes. Hence, they are able to support the integration of entrepreneurs and SMEs into trans-national supply chains by reducing high entry barriers and weakening the dominating position of big players.This paper discusses the research questions how blockchain smart contracting can facilitate the implementation of collaborative logistics structures and how the integration of SMEs into sustainable maritime supply chains can be safeguarded. The research bases on expert interviews and case studies. The results showcase the potentials of using blockchain smart contracting in the environment of trans-national and multimodal supply chains.</abstract>

Blockchain and Smart Contracts for Entrepreneurial Collaboration in Maritime Supply Chains

<abstract><title style='display:none'>Abstract</title>One of the most essential tasks for a number of systems of the automatic controls in the autonomous electric power systems of the water transport is accurate calculation of variable harmonic components in the non-sinusoidal signal. In the autonomous electric power systems operating with full semiconductor capacity, the forms of line currents and voltages are greatly distorted, and generator devices generate voltage with inconsistent frequency, phase and amplitude. It makes calculation of harmonic composition of the distorted signals be a non-trivial task. The present paper provides a mathematical set for solution of the outlined problem including the realization in the discrete form. The simplicity and efficiency of the system proposed make possible to perform its practical realization with the help of cheap FPGA. The test of the developed system has been performed in the medium Matlab.</abstract>

Modeling of Complex Structures for the Ship's Power Complex Using Xilinx System

<abstract><title style='display:none'>Abstract</title>Currently, in many cities around the world there is a significant increase in the number of vehicles, which leads to an aggravation of problems and contradictions in the road and transport system. This is especially true of traffic congestion, since the presence of the congestion leads to a number of negative consequences: an increase in travel time, additional fuel consumption and vehicle wear, stress and irritation of drivers and passengers, environmental poisoning and others. To solve the problem of congestion, it is necessary to have a reliable system for collecting information about the situation on the roads and a well-developed method for analyzing the collected information. The paper discusses the possibilities of collecting the required information using multi-touch video cameras and ways to improve them. A distinctive feature of this study is the registration of pedestrians crossing the road at the intersection. The aim of the work is to develop methods for collecting information using road sensor video surveillance systems in a traffic congestion and data processing using statistical methods such as: multiple regression analysis, cluster analysis, multidimensional scaling methods and others. The tasks were set: 1) to identify the most significant factors affecting the intensity of movement of vehicles at intersections in a congestion; 2) divide congestion into clusters with the identification of their characteristics; 3) to give a visual representation of multidimensional statistical information obtained with the help of multi-touch road video cameras.</abstract>

The Use of Multi-Sensor Video Surveillance System to Assess the Capacity of the Road Network

<abstract><title style='display:none'>Abstract</title> This study proposes a hybrid multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) methodology for evaluating the performance of the Indian railway stations (IRS). Since the customers are heterogeneous and their requirements are often imprecise, the evaluation process is a critical step for prioritizing the IRS. To improve the existing approaches, an efficient evaluation technique has been proposed by integrating rough numbers, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and multi-attribute border approximation area comparison (MABAC) methods in rough environment. The relative criteria weights based on their preferences given by experts is determined by rough AHP whereas evaluation of the alternatives based on these criteria are done by the modified rough MABAC method. A case study of prioritizing different railway stations in India is provided to demonstrate the efficiency and applicability of the proposed method. Among different criteria “proactively” is observed to be the most important criteria in our analysis, followed by ‘Railfanning’ and ‘DMO’ is found to be the best among the forty IRS in this study. Finally, a comparative analysis and validity testing of the proposed method are elaborated and the methodology provides a standard to select IRS on the basis of different criteria.</abstract>

Multi Criteria Evaluation Framework for Prioritizing Indian Railway Stations Using Modified Rough AHP-Mabac Method

<abstract><title style='display:none'>Abstract</title> Synchronous motors and their modifications (ac converter-fed motor, etc.) enable to develop low-noise, reliable and economically efficient electric drive systems. The construction of up-to-date systems based on the synchronous machines is impossible without development of the computing software incorporating mathematical and computing simulation. In its turn, modelling of the synchronous machines as a rule is based on the equations by Park-Gorev, application of which requires adoption of a series of allowances. These allowances in a number of cases do not permit to obtain adequate results of the simulation coinciding with the results of field experiments of the systems under review. Moreover, while applying the system of equations by Park-Gorev to research the systems including interaction of synchronous machines with semiconducting converters of electric energy it is necessary simulate the process of formation their controlling signals in the sphere of frequency. If the states of converter’s keys are defined not only by controlling impulses but also by the state of currents in the synchronous machines flowing through them, such approach is not reasonable.</abstract>

Use of Information Intelligent Components for the Analysis of Complex Processes of Marine Energy Systems

<abstract><title style='display:none'>Abstract</title> New telecommunication technologies and services have caused important challenges on travel behaviour and trip characteristics. Existing literature studies show many different outcomes regarding the effects of the new technologies on the participation of people to their personal activities and related travel; specifically, e-shopping may produce the reduction of shopping trips (substitution effect), but also an increase of trips thanks to the reuse of the travel time saved for other activities and trips (complementarity’s effect). The focus of this study is to analyse the aspects mostly affecting consumer choices of purchasing goods by web or in-store, with the aim of understanding how to operate so that e-shopping can positively modify consumers’ travel behaviour. Our research findings show that individual social and economic factors, consumer attitudes, and shopping mode characteristics influence the usage of online shopping. An experimental survey addressed to a sample of Italian consumers is used in the study.</abstract>
