Abstract

In this article, we are interested in the exploration part of model checking which consists in traversing all the possible states of a system. Abstract

Cloud computing has emerged as the most dominant computational paradigm in recent times. There are tremendous benefits for enterprises adopting cloud technologies. It provides resources and services on demand, pay-as-you go basis. This includes infrastructure, platform and software services. But there are still a number of security threats and challenges associated with utilizing cloud computing. A proper access control is the fundamental security requirement in any cloud environment, to avoid unauthorized access to the cloud systems. As cloud computing supports multi-tenancy and has a various categories of users with different sets of security requirements, traditional access control models and policies cannot be used. This paper discusses on various access control models used for cloud environment and presents a detailed requirement analysis for developing an access control, specifically for the cloud. A comprehensive study on various security problems associated with outsourced data on the cloud and their existing solutions are also described, with the future research directions.

Comprehensive Performance Evaluation Strategy for Communication Networks Selection in Smart Grid

Abstract

Different communication networks are used in the different application environment of the smart grid. So, how to effectively select the communication networks with the optimal comprehensive performance is an important issue for the power management corporations. A novel comprehensive performance evaluation based on Exponential Scale Analytic Hierarchy Process (ESAHP) and Grey Analytic Hierarchy Process (GAHP) for the communication networks selection is proposed in the electricity information acquisition system. The ESAHP is used to calculate the weight of each communication performance index and the economic performance index, and the GAHP is adopted to evaluate the economic cost of the different communication modes. The optimal comprehensive communication model can be selected by comprehensively comparing the communication performance and the economic cost. The test results show that the assessment model can effectively evaluate the comprehensive performance of the different communication networks selection in the electricity information acquisition system of the smart grid.

Simple Clustering for Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract

Traditional Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are designed for connecting pure electronic or mechanical sensors through wireless communication. Nowadays, WSNs are combined with other technologies like big data and cloud for data management. While combining the sensors (low level devices) with a high end network like Internet, data communication should be taken care of in the gateway between these two networks. With this type of WSNs, if all the sensors are in direct communication with the high end network, then a lot of energy will be consumed, requiring complex protocols for making this communication possible. So, to reduce the energy wastage, the clustering concept is used in WSN. Although so many complex and innovative clustering techniques are available for WSN, this paper describes a very simple clustering technique for environmental monitoring WSN with proven results.

Mitigating Hot Spot Problems in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Tier-Based Quantification Algorithm

Abstract

One of the key issues in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is the hot-spot problem i.e. the nodes closer to the sink tend to drain their energy at a faster rate when compared to other nodes as they have to perform more communication and hence the sensor network may get isolated. In this paper we are using an integrated MAC and routing protocol which divides the network into tiers. We also propose a quantification algorithm, which decides the number of nodes in each tier to mitigate the hot-spot problem.

Strategy for Individuals Distribution by Incident Nodes Participation in Star Topology of Distributed Evolutionary Algorithms

Abstract

One of the strongest advantages of Distributed Evolutionary Algorithms (DEAs) is that they can be implemented in distributed environment of heterogeneous computing nodes. Usually such computing nodes differ in hardware and operating systems. Distributed systems are limited by network latency. Some Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) are quite suitable for distributed computing implementation, because of their high level of parallelism and relatively less intensive network communication demands. One of the most widely used topologies for distributed computing is the star topology. In a star topology there is a central node with global EA population and many remote computation nodes which are working on a local population (usually sub-population of the global population). This model of distributed computing is also known as island model. What is common for DEAs is an operation called migration that transfers some individuals between local populations. In this paper, the term 'distribution' will be used instead of the term 'migration', because it is more accurate for the model proposed. This research proposes a strategy for distribution of EAs individuals in star topology based on incident node participation (INP). Solving the Rubik's cube by a Genetic Algorithm (GA) will be used as a benchmark. It is a combinatorial problem and experiments are done with a C++ program which uses OpenMPI.

An Improved DV-Hop Localization Algorithm Based on Bat Algorithm

Abstract

In the DV-Hop algorithm, the average distance per hop is one of the factors that affect the accuracy of the positioning. In this paper, an improved DV-Hop localization algorithm based on bat algorithm (BAD-Hop) is proposed to solve the error which is brought by the average distance per hop. In BAD-Hop algorithm, bat algorithm which is a kind of intelligent optimization algorithm with good performance is introduced into DV-Hop localization algorithm to calculate average distance per hop of anchor nodes. Firstly, the average distance per hop of anchor node is calculated by using bat algorithm, which makes it closer to the actual value. Then the average distance per hop of the unknown node is weighted by using the average distance per hop of anchor nodes which hop-count is less than or equal to 3 to reduce errors caused by average distance per hop. Simulation results show that the improved algorithm can effectively reduce the positioning error without additional hardware.

Models and algorithms of information retrieval in the global and local computer networks on the basis of thematic and dynamic text corpora are proposed in this article. The developed algorithms provide the effectiveness of documents information retrieval and notable for universality, i. e., for the independence from topics. Information system adjustment to a particular data domain can be fully automated, it adds up to the creation of a respective thematic text corpus and an actualization of dictionaries of the knowledge database.

Optimizing Signal De-Noising Algorithm for Acoustic Emission Leakage of Wavelet

Abstract

Traditional wavelet denoising method cannot eliminate complex high-pressure pipe signals effectively. In the updated wavelet adaptive algorithm, this thesis defines the constraints in order to reconstruct the signals accurately. According to the minimum mean square error criterion, the results predict the weight coefficient and get the optimal linear predictive value. Adopting the improved algorithm under the same condition, this thesis concluded that Db6 increased the complexity of wavelet algorithm by 50% by comparative experiments. It will be more conducive to the realization of hardware and the feasibility of real-time denoising. Dual adaptive wavelet denoising method improved SNR by 50%. This denoising method will play a key role in the detection rate of high-pressure pipe in the online leakage detection system.

Mapping of Acoustic Noise and Microwave Radiation

Abstract

Passive sensor systems are attractive for monitoring due to the absence of probing emissions. Two passive systems: an acoustic camera, manufactured by Brüel & Kjær (Sound and Vibration Measurement A/S) and a microwave radiometer are considered in the paper. The performance of these systems is carefully analyzed. The obtained results show the limitations of the acoustic camera in acoustic noise source localization caused by specific side lobes of a pattern of its microphone array. A suggestion how to avoid them is given. Application of microwave bistatic radiometer provides information about thermal electromagnetic radiation of objects in 3D spatial coordinates. The generated radiometric maps contain amplitude and phase information, which is suitable for estimation of displacements/vibration. The received results are applicable in nondestructive testing.

A Report on Multilinear PCA Plus GTDA to Deal With Face Image

Abstract

Because face images are naturally two-dimensional data, there have been several 2D feature extraction methods to deal with facial images while there are few 2D effective classifiers. Meanwhile, there is an increasing interest in the multilinear subspace analysis and many methods have been proposed to operate directly on these tensorial data during the past several years. One of these popular unsupervised multilinear algorithms is Multilinear Principal Component Analysis (MPCA) while another of the supervised multilinear algorithm is Multilinear Discriminant Analysis (MDA). Then a MPCA+MDA method has been introduced to deal with the tensorial signal. However, due to the no convergence of MDA, it is difficult for MPCA+MDA to obtain a precise result. Hence, to overcome this limitation, a new MPCA plus General Tensor Discriminant Analysis (GTDA) solution with well convergence is presented for tensorial face images feature extraction in this paper. Several experiments are carried out to evaluate the performance of MPCA+GTDA on different databases and the results show that this method has the potential to achieve comparative effect as MPCA+MDA.

Intelligent Multi-Soft Sensing for Flame Position of Steam Boilers

Abstract

A new inference control system for the flame position in the combustion chamber of a power plant system boiler is presented. The system is based on enhanced multi-softsensing at three operational levels – basic level, providing estimates of all necessary technological variables; a separate Mill Fan (MF) level, and a total Dust Preparation System (DPS) level. The control system involves a subsystem for the stabilization of the position of the common MF ventilation rate momentum in a given threshold area in a burner horizon, which is supervised by an inference correction based on softsensed 2D flame position in the output section of the combustion chamber. A hybrid approach is accepted in softsensing, using fusion of the first principle models, statistical models, neural networks and fuzzy logic based models. Real experimental results are presented from TPP.

Methods to Determine Optimal Washout Position for Single and Multi-Occupant Motion Simulator

Abstract

The washout position has great effects on the perception fidelity and the movement of the motion simulator. In this paper, the main square error of sensation between simulator and vehicle is determined, and the fidelity of the occupant and the platform motion performance as a basis to build a model for a single occupant optimal washout position measurement. Then, considering the features of the multi-occupant motion simulator, a concept of the task’s master-crew is proposed, the multi-occupant optimal washout position measurement model is built. Then an anti-aircraft simulator for three occupants is taken as an example of a multi-occupant simulator and the optimal washout position measurement model is studied. Considering that the basic PSO algorithm has shortcomings such as easy aging and falling into local extreme value, a modified algorithm is designed called Adaptive Chaos PSO algorithm and applied to the resolution of the models. The results showed that the optimal position can make the simulator trainer have a more realistic sensation and maintain the safety of the platform, and that the Adaptive chaos PSO algorithm can effectively solve the shortcomings of PSO and is very useful in the resolution of the model.

The developed algorithms provide the effectiveness of documents information retrieval and notable for universality, i. e., for the independence from topics. Information system adjustment to a particular data domain can be fully automated, it adds up to the creation of a respective thematic text corpus and an actualization of dictionaries of the knowledge database.

Optimizing Signal De-Noising Algorithm for Acoustic Emission Leakage of Wavelet

Abstract

Traditional wavelet denoising method cannot eliminate complex high-pressure pipe signals effectively. In the updated wavelet adaptive algorithm, this thesis defines the constraints in order to reconstruct the signals accurately. According to the minimum mean square error criterion, the results predict the weight coefficient and get the optimal linear predictive value. Adopting the improved algorithm under the same condition, this thesis concluded that Db6 increased the complexity of wavelet algorithm by 50% by comparative experiments. It will be more conducive to the realization of hardware and the feasibility of real-time denoising. Dual adaptive wavelet denoising method improved SNR by 50%. This denoising method will play a key role in the detection rate of high-pressure pipe in the online leakage detection system.

Mapping of Acoustic Noise and Microwave Radiation

Abstract

Passive sensor systems are attractive for monitoring due to the absence of probing emissions. Two passive systems: an acoustic camera, manufactured by Brüel & Kjær (Sound and Vibration Measurement A/S) and a microwave radiometer are considered in the paper. The performance of these systems is carefully analyzed. The obtained results show the limitations of the acoustic camera in acoustic noise source localization caused by specific side lobes of a pattern of its microphone array. A suggestion how to avoid them is given. Application of microwave bistatic radiometer provides information about thermal electromagnetic radiation of objects in 3D spatial coordinates. The generated radiometric maps contain amplitude and phase information, which is suitable for estimation of displacements/vibration. The received results are applicable in nondestructive testing.

A Report on Multilinear PCA Plus GTDA to Deal With Face Image

Abstract

Because face images are naturally two-dimensional data, there have been several 2D feature extraction methods to deal with facial images while there are few 2D effective classifiers. Meanwhile, there is an increasing interest in the multilinear subspace analysis and many methods have been proposed to operate directly on these tensorial data during the past several years. One of these popular unsupervised multilinear algorithms is Multilinear Principal Component Analysis (MPCA) while another of the supervised multilinear algorithm is Multilinear Discriminant Analysis (MDA). Then a MPCA+MDA method has been introduced to deal with the tensorial signal. However, due to the no convergence of MDA, it is difficult for MPCA+MDA to obtain a precise result. Hence, to overcome this limitation, a new MPCA plus General Tensor Discriminant Analysis (GTDA) solution with well convergence is presented for tensorial face images feature extraction in this paper. Several experiments are carried out to evaluate the performance of MPCA+GTDA on different databases and the results show that this method has the potential to achieve comparative effect as MPCA+MDA.

Intelligent Multi-Soft Sensing for Flame Position of Steam Boilers

Abstract

A new inference control system for the flame position in the combustion chamber of a power plant system boiler is presented. The system is based on enhanced multi-softsensing at three operational levels – basic level, providing estimates of all necessary technological variables; a separate Mill Fan (MF) level, and a total Dust Preparation System (DPS) level. The control system involves a subsystem for the stabilization of the position of the common MF ventilation rate momentum in a given threshold area in a burner horizon, which is supervised by an inference correction based on softsensed 2D flame position in the output section of the combustion chamber. A hybrid approach is accepted in softsensing, using fusion of the first principle models, statistical models, neural networks and fuzzy logic based models. Real experimental results are presented from TPP.

Methods to Determine Optimal Washout Position for Single and Multi-Occupant Motion Simulator

Abstract

The washout position has great effects on the perception fidelity and the movement of the motion simulator. In this paper, the main square error of sensation between simulator and vehicle is determined, and the fidelity of the occupant and the platform motion performance as a basis to build a model for a single occupant optimal washout position measurement. Then, considering the features of the multi-occupant motion simulator, a concept of the task’s master-crew is proposed, the multi-occupant optimal washout position measurement model is built. Then an anti-aircraft simulator for three occupants is taken as an example of a multi-occupant simulator and the optimal washout position measurement model is studied. Considering that the basic PSO algorithm has shortcomings such as easy aging and falling into local extreme value, a modified algorithm is designed called Adaptive Chaos PSO algorithm and applied to the resolution of the models. The results showed that the optimal position can make the simulator trainer have a more realistic sensation and maintain the safety of the platform, and that the Adaptive chaos PSO algorithm can effectively solve the shortcomings of PSO and is very useful in the resolution of the model.
