<abstract xml:lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Antagonistic properties of four isolates of <italic>Trichoderma</italic> against fungal pathogen <italic>Rhizoctonia solani</italic> were investigated. The addition of <italic>T. harzianum</italic> strain PBG to the potground protected cucumber plants against root rot caused by <italic>R. solani</italic> and increased the weight of cucumber plants growing in potground with pathogen by 19-26%, compared to infested control. All <italic>Trichoderma</italic> strains (<italic>T. harzianum</italic> strain PBG; <italic>T. longibrachiatum</italic> szczep T2; <italic>T. harzianum</italic> strain T4 and <italic>Trichoderma</italic> sp. strain T6) indicated positive effect on lettuce growth in the greenhouse experiment. They increased the number of germinated seeds and the average mass of seedlings. The highest growth stimulation of the lettuce was observed using <italic>Trichoderma</italic> strain T6 and <italic>T. harzianum</italic> strain PBG, respectively 49% and 33%, when compared to the control treatment. Moreover, these isolates most efficiently protected lettuce seedlings against <italic>R. solani</italic>. The application of the combinations of four <italic>Trichoderma</italic> together did not increase the protective effect against <italic>R. solani.</italic></p></abstract>
