This case study investigates the Superheroes in School program, an initiative to support financially and socially disadvantaged children in the Sibiu region. The program recruits prospective teachers to provide online homework assistance and foster academic engagement. Through various research methods, including questionnaires, interviews, and observations, the study assesses the program’s implementation and impact from its start in 2019 to the present in 2024. It focuses on the program’s structure, the motivations of volunteers, and the challenges encountered. Additionally, the study seeks to identify lessons learned and recommendations for enhancing educational equity. Ultimately, it aims to inform future community-based interventions that empower marginalized communities through grassroots initiatives.
