<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>In Europe, the genus <italic>Ramonda</italic> is represented with three species: <italic>Ramonda nathaliae</italic>, <italic>Ramonda serbica</italic> and <italic>Ramonda myconi</italic>. The first two are endemic Balkan species that are distributed also in Kosovo. These species grow in limestone as well as serpentine substrates, forming chasmophytic vegetation. The species <italic>Ramonda nathaliae</italic> is found in Macedonia, Greece, Serbia and in two localities in Kosovo, in the Sharri Mountains (Luboten and Gotovushë). <italic>R. nathaliae</italic> forms the following plant associations in the serpentines of Macedonia: <italic>Asplenio­Ramondetum nathaliae</italic> and <italic>Scorzonero-Ramondetum nathaliae</italic>, and the <italic>Achilleo­Ramondetum nathaliae</italic> in limestone substrates. <italic>Ostrya carpinifolia</italic> is charateristic species in <italic>Querco pubescentis</italic>-<italic>Ostryetum carpinifoliae</italic>, <italic>Ostryo</italic>-<italic>Fagetum</italic>, <italic>Querco</italic>-<italic>Ostryetum carpinifoliae</italic> and <italic>Corylo colurnae</italic>-<italic>Ostryetum carpinifoliae</italic>. This paper presents plant communities of <italic>Ramonda nathaliae</italic> and <italic>Ostrya carpinifolia</italic> in a limestone habitat, where the proposed new plant association named <italic>Ramondo­Ostryetum carpinifoliae</italic> ass. nova. is described. This plant community belongs to the class <italic>Quercetea pubescentis</italic>, order <italic>Quercetalia pubescenti­petraeae</italic> and alliance <italic>Fraxino orni­Ostryion</italic>. It was found and described on the limestone substrate on Mt. Luboteni (at 960–982 m a.s.l.).</p></abstract>
