<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<p>In total, 14 608 pig sera, collected between 2008 and 2011, were tested with ELISA using antibodies specific for bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV). All doubtful and positive samples were retested by virus neutralisation test (neutralising peroxidase-linked assay). The BVDV seroreagents were detected in 11 (68.75%) out of 16 provinces, the seroprevalence varied from 0.1% to 1.04% (average 0.31%). The obtained results indicate that the prevalence of BVDV infection in pig population in Poland is low.</p>
