By archiving literary material while the author is still alive – whether as a 〉Vorlass〈 in the literary archive or as (fictional) files of a public authority – administration and literature merge into archival poetics. These are characterized by observation scenarios: While Elfriede Jelinek in »Angabe der Person« (2022) takes a tax procedure as a starting point to create destructive fantasies about her (fictitious) 〉Nachlass〈 and combines the bureaucratic requirements of a life story with those of literary writing, Friederike Mayröcker’s text »Archiv« (2005) raises questions about the institution and the conditions of writing, which can be traced back to her apartment.
