Entertainment in the media has often been described in negative terms as phenomenons which are not serious or not informative or it has become a sort of black box in receptionstudies containing a wide variety of pleasure oriented or, emotional experiences with the audience. Entertainment on television has undergone great changes during the last decades and is currently far more complex than earlier, today being part of everyday television and including more genres and mediaplatforms than ever. This project intends to discus new approaches to entertainment in order to better understand the very nature of entertainment on television and it implies 6 empirical oriented subprojects that will explore the nature of different types of programmes.
