<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

<p>The striped ambrosia beetles <italic>Trypodendron lineatum</italic> and <italic>T. domesticum</italic> are timber forest pests in the Palearctic region and North America. Because only a few pathogens are known for <italic>Trypodendron</italic> species, the aim of this work was to determine the spectrum of pathogen species of <italic>T. lineatum</italic>, <italic>T. laeve</italic>, and <italic>T. domesticum</italic>. <italic>Trypodendron</italic> species were collected in pheromone traps at nine localities in the Czech Republic, five localities in Poland, and one locality in Austria. In total, 2,439 <italic>T. lineatum</italic>, 171 <italic>T. domesticum</italic>, and 17 <italic>T. laeve</italic> beetles were dissected and examined. Infection was found in only two of the 17 specimens of <italic>T. laeve</italic> and in only two of the 171 specimens of <italic>T. domesticum</italic>; in all four cases, the parasites were nematodes. Parasitisation of <italic>T. lineatum</italic> by nematodes was found in <italic>T. lineatum</italic> at eight localities with a mean (<underline>±</underline> SE) parasitisation level of 8.1 ± 4.7%. A <italic>Chytridiopsis</italic> sp. was detected in cells of the midgut epithelium of one <italic>T. lineatum</italic> specimen, and <italic>Gregarina</italic> sp. was detected in the midgut lumen of two <italic>T. lineatum</italic> specimens; no other pathogens were found in <italic>T. lineatum</italic>. The low infection rates and the tendency for infection by nematodes can be explained by the monogamy of <italic>Trypodendron</italic> spp. and their feeding on fungi in short galleries that are not connected to the galleries of conspecifics.</p>
