<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

Seventeen species of the lichen genus <italic>Peltigera,</italic> exclusive of the <italic>P. canina</italic> group, are accepted from Norway. Their morphology, chemistry, ecology, and distribution in Norway are presented, and a key to the species is provided. <italic>Peltigera retifoveata</italic> is reported as new to Norway and a new species, <italic>P.</italic> sp. 1, which belongs to the <italic>P. aphthosa</italic> group, is treated but not formally described.
Different morphotypes of <italic>P. aphthosa, P. malacea,</italic> and <italic>P. neopolydactyla</italic> and different chemotypes of <italic>P. aphthosa, P. elisabethae, P. horizontalis, P. malacea, P. neopolydactyla, P. scabrosa,</italic> and <italic>P.</italic> sp. 1 are described. Correlations between several morphotypes and chemotypes are shown, but these are not treated as taxonomic units, although they probably are biological species.
Phototype pairs in <italic>P. aphthosa, P. britannica,</italic> and <italic>P. venosa</italic> are described, and the close relationship between the two first mentioned and <italic>P. malacea</italic> is pointed out.
