This article is about two artistic-pedagogical projects in contemporary dance at the University of Dance and Circus (DOCH) in Stockholm, during 2001–2004. In Sweden there has not been any research concerning the teaching of contemporary dance within Higher Education. Together with the dance teachers in contemporary dance we started a developmental project where we tried to catch the core of the education in dance technique, the visions of the teachers, their teaching and how it related to their backgrounds. I also wanted to pay attention to the place of art within dance technique. Through the project the teaching and the role of the teacher becomes visible. Out of the project grows a modern Master-teacher- method (mästarlära), a conscious, reflexive teaching related to learning theories.
