<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

<p>In the Czech Republic, 12 freshly dead birds belonging to four species were examined helminthologically during a period of 2015 – 2019. They were six Caspian gulls <italic>Larus cachinnans</italic> (Lariformes), three goosanders <italic>Mergus merganser</italic> (Anseriformes), two common snipes <italic>Gallinago gallinago</italic>, and one common curlew <italic>Numenius arquata</italic> (Charadriiformes). Concerning trematodes, five echinostomatoids species were found, namely <italic>Aporchis massiliensis</italic> (obtained from one positive Caspian gull), <italic>Echinoparyphium macrovitellatum</italic> (one positive from six Caspian gulls), <italic>Echinostoma academica</italic> (one positive common curlew), <italic>Echinostoma stantschinskii</italic> (one positive from two common snipes), and <italic>Echinochasmus mergi</italic> (one positive from three goosanders). All the five echinostomatoids species represent the first records for the helminth fauna of the Czech Republic; the fl ukes <italic>A. massiliensis</italic> and <italic>E. macrovitellatum</italic> are recorded for the first time in the Central Europe or the Europe at all, respectively.</p></abstract>
