The article presents how different threats that modern society is dealing with affect the transformation of the security environment and, above all, the perception of individual security. Because of globalization; the gradual transformation of society, the increase in complexity and scope of sources of threats and the reduction of the power of services responsible for dealing with such sources of threats, the perception of individual safety is changing. There is a need for an increased active participation of individual in the modern security environment, where, based on the defined changes, we can no longer talk only about rights, but also about the inclusion of the individual in his security environment. Based on the conclusions, we realize that in the future the individual will have to accept more duties and responsibilities from the point of view of safety.
