This article aims to analyze the relationship between Moretti’s theories and methods of critical research and Romanian children’s literature, proposing both a new approach and a new way of reading children’s literature. The main idea is that Romanian children’s literature from the past three decades has become an increasingly developed and effervescent field, with openings towards world literature and, therefore, it needs new research methods pertaining to World Literature studies. Since Franco Moretti’s theories are already integrated into Western (geo)criticism, it is important to metabolize them in the local context precisely in order to legitimize a coherent geocritical approach to Romanian children’s literature.
