A new self-curing ( chemically-cured), resin-modified glass-ionomer cement, Fuji Ortho (GC International JapanTM) is based on the technology of hybrid glass-ionomer restorative materials and features chemical adhesion to tooth structure and long-term fluoride release. These materials do not require acid etching of the tooth for adhesion, thereby preserving the integrity of the enamel prisms. This paper describes the clinical use of Fuji Ortho for the direct bonding of orthodontic (metal) brackets.
