Experimental orthodontic tooth extrusion can result in red cell diapedesis through the PDL vascular wall. Diapedesis is an early sign of acute inflammation. At the ultrastructural level, red cell migration is demonstrated occurring through the endothelial junction of a postcapillary-sized venule.
