Much of A. J. Cronin’s inspiration for his literary production lies in his own experience as a physician. His most popular novel, which has been debated to be partly autobiographical, is The Citadel, also praised to have brought significance contribution to the establishment of the National Health Service. This paper compares six versions, an English digital edition, three Romanian translations, and a Hungarian one in terms of phrases containing the word heart.
