Agriculture is a key component in the global land, water, air, and energy nexus, and the way agriculture treats land can significantly affect the ecosystems and the environment. Agriculture plays a significant role in climate change, with its effects varying depending on whether the land is conserved or degraded. Through the adoption of alternative agricultural practices, such as regenerative or conservation methods, it is possible not onlyenhance the soil’s organic carbon content and restore degraded land but also to contribute positively to climate change mitigation and overall environmental health. The positive impact of alternative agriculture on the quality of primary food raw materials is also proven. This review article aims to summarize scientific information focused on the impact of alternative ways of soil technology in agriculture and to discuss the positives and negatives of preservative technologies such as minimization, mulch-till, and no-till on the soil, plant production, and the environment.
