<p>The effect of the nematode trap crop <italic>Solanum sisymbriifolium</italic> was assessed against three <italic>Globodera</italic> spp., the potato cyst nematode <italic>Globodera pallida</italic> (in Idaho), the recently described <italic>Globodera ellingtonae</italic> (in Oregon), and the tobacco cyst nematode <italic>Globodera tabacum</italic> (in Connecticut) in field trials. At all locations the ability of <italic>S. sisymbriifolium</italic> to reduce <italic>Globodera</italic> encysted second-stage juveniles (J2) in egg densities compared to fallow was considered. For <italic>G. ellingtonae</italic>, the impact of planting and termination dates of <italic>S. sisymbriifolium</italic> on final egg densities was also evaluated; and for <italic>G. pallida</italic>, the ability of the nematode to reproduce on potato (<italic>Solanum tuberosum</italic>) after exposure to <italic>S. sisymbriifolium</italic> was determined. Encysted J2 in egg densities of all three <italic>Globodera</italic> spp. declined from 25 to 68% after trap cropping with <italic>S. sisymbriifolium</italic>. For <italic>G. pallida</italic>, <italic>S. sisymbriifolium</italic> reduced final encysted J2 in egg density by 23 to 50% compared to the fallow treatment, and significantly decreased <italic>G. pallida</italic> reproduction on potato after exposure to <italic>S. sisymbriifolium</italic> by 99 to 100% compared to the fallow treatment (<italic>P</italic> &lt; 0.0001). For <italic>G. ellingtonae</italic>, the planting date of <italic>S. sisymbriifolium</italic> in May or June did not impact final egg densities (<italic>P</italic> = 0.32). Rather, percentage reduction in <italic>G. ellingtonae</italic> encysted J2 in egg density was most influenced by the length of time to which nematodes were exposed to <italic>S. sisymbriifolium</italic>, with 30 and 81% reduction after 6 vs 12 wk of exposure, respectively (<italic>P</italic> &lt; 0.0001). Similar levels of nematode reduction after <italic>S. sisymbriifolium</italic> were observed for <italic>G. tabacum</italic> after 12 to 14 wk of exposure to the trap crop; <italic>G. tabacum</italic> density changes consisted of a 114% increase after susceptible tobacco, a 65% decrease after resistant tobacco, and an 88% decrease after <italic>S. sisymbriifolium</italic> compared to bare soil. In conclusion, this research demonstrates the widespread applicability of <italic>S. sisymbriifolium</italic> in reducing a diversity of <italic>Globodera</italic> spp. present in the USA.</p>
