Editorial Policy
Mitteilung Klosterneuburg requires that all authors named on a submission
- substantially contributed to the work
- drafted or read the final manuscript
- gave their consent to the submitted version
- are aware of their responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the published content.
Contributors, to whom all four points above do not apply, should only be mentioned in the acknowledgement section.
Authors are requested to disclose their sources of funding, or financial or non-financial interests.
Unless otherwise declared, all submissions must be original papers that have not been published or submitted in an identical or similar form elsewhere (except diploma theses, dissertations and conference contributions).
Results should be presented in a comprehensive and honest manner, without any manipulation of data or images. Texts or work by others must not be passed off as one's own work.
Correspondence between the author(s) and the Journal should be kept confidential, unless agreed otherwise in writing between the parties.
Peer Review Process
All research publications in Mitteilungen Klosterneuburg are submitted to double blind peer review. Submissions to Mitteilungen Klosterneuburg are at the start checked for completeness. In a next step, the managing editor decides if the submission is suitable for peer review. In this case, he assigns the work to the editor in charge for the respective research field for further processing of the manuscript. Should the editor have any competing interests, e.g., if he/she is co-author of a submitted paper, the peer review will be overseen by another editor. The responsible editor selects two independent reviewers with scientific expertise in the given topic. Authors are asked to suggest at least three and up to five suitable reviewers, however, proposed peer-reviewers should not be close colleagues of the authors. The editor can select the recommended reviewers, but does not have to. In exceptional cases, e.g. in when it is not possible to obtain two independent peer reviews in a reasonable amount of time, e.g. in specific fields of expertise, editors may decide to make their decision based on just one peer review. In such cases, it must be ensured that the editor has sufficient expertise to assess the submission. The editors consider the peer reviews in their decision, but they can also make different decisions. The peer-reviews are sent to the authors at the same time as the editor's decision on the manuscript.
Guidelines for Reviewers
The peer review should comprise a critical evaluation of the submission, and should assess e.g. the suitability of the used methods, the precise presentation and evaluation of the results and the comprehensibility of the conclusions. Short, superficial reviews contribute little to a quality editor decision and should therefore be avoided. All peer reviewers are requested to complete a standardized evaluation sheet.
