Parallel beam force transducers are used for the purpose of determining the masses of bodies and are essentially devices that react, both quantitatively and qualitatively, to a specific physical scalar integer (in this case, the mass of the element to be measured). The load being measured is converted into an electrical signal using such a device. The operating principle is based on Hooke’s law, i.e., there is a linear relationship between strains and stresses within proportional limits. The authors of this article make some general observations on possible errors associated with the installation of parallel beam force transducers.

The liberalisation of aviation policies across Africa has had a significant impact on air traffic flow within the region. This study aims to examine the effects of this policy, with a specific focus on Nigeria’s regional connectivity to other West African countries. By analyzing data from the pre and post-liberalisation eras, the study aims to determine the changes in passenger and aircraft movement and evaluate the significance of the policy on Nigeria’s sub-region.
The study utilizes a longitudinal data set covering the period between 1988 and 2018. This data is divided into two eras: the pre-liberalisation era (1988-2000) and the post-liberalisation era (2001-2018). To assess the impact of liberalisation, a t-test is conducted on the data, comparing the air traffic flow patterns before and after the implementation of liberalisation policies.The findings reveal a substantial improvement in the air traffic flow of passengers and aircraft from Nigeria to other West African countries since the introduction of liberalisation policies. The growth patterns observed in the post-liberalisation era exhibit a linear trend, indicating sustained progress. However, uncertainties arising from hazards in air transport operations can influence the growth patterns.The study underscores the positive impact of African aviation liberalisation policy on air traffic flow, particularly in the regional context of Nigeria’s connectivity with other West African countries.
The results demonstrate significant improvements in passenger and aircraft movement. However, to fully capitalize on the benefits of liberalisation, regional efforts and an improved framework need to be intensified. This will ensure sustained growth and maximize the advantages of liberalisation in the aviation sector.

Liberalisation and spatio- temporal patterns of air traffic flow from Nigeria to West Africa

We present robust results on the impact of remittances on exports and economic growth for panel data sets of 38 high-income and 50 middle-income countries for 2000-2020. First, we estimate the impact of remittances on exports after controlling economic growth. By panel dynamic panel estimation, when regressing remittances on exports, remittances show an inverse U-shaped relationship with a threshold value of ln(12.63) for high-income and ln(15.66) middle-income countries above which exports begin to rise. Economic growth is showing a positive and significant impact on exports. Second, we estimate the impact of remittances and exports on economic growth after controlling various macro determinants of economic growth. On economic growth, remittances present a U-shaped relationship with threshold value ln (12.63) for higher income and ln(15.66) for lower-income countries above which economic growth starts to decline. Exports are showing a positive and significant effect on economic growth. A 100% increase in exports leads to a 15% and 12% increase in exports of high-income and middle-income countries. The other variables like physical capital per labour and human capital are showing a positive and significant impact on economic growth. Government expenditure has a negative coefficient, thus, it deteriorates economic growth.

The urban and economic developments of recent years have generated changes in the development of road traffic, determined by the continuous growth of the vehicle fleet, the increase in the mobility index of the existing vehicle fleet and the increase in the number of vehicles transiting the main cities of the country, this having as consequences the decrease in the traffic capacity of the streets. Through the application of innovative technologies, which allow the anticipation and control of road traffic, traffic jams are avoided, this leads to an increase in the quality of life. In this article, a case study was analyzed, in which an artificial neural network was implemented within a traffic model, with the help of which predictions were made on traffic light times. The results obtained are satisfactory, and are highlighted by the performance parameters exported from the traffic models.

The influence of the introduction of an artificial neural network for traffic signal control

The city of Bucharest together with Ilfov county form an urban agglomeration with over 2.2 million inhabitants. Currently, due to exceeding the traffic capacity of the capital’s ring road, the only possibility to travel North - South or East - West is through the city centre. The public transport network in the city of Bucharest lacks lanes dedicated to public transport, the lack of an extensive network of adaptive traffic lights and traffic lights that give priority to public transport. Also, the high degree of vehicle loading of the street network leads to a low level of service both in the morning peak hour and in the afternoon rush hour, leading to low transport speeds of surface public transport. In this article, the possibilities of introducing dedicated public transport lanes in the city of Bucharest are identified, quantifying the reduction in travel times. In addition, some technical solutions regarding the necessary infrastructure for the introduction of lanes dedicated to public transport vehicles and possible traffic regulation measures are presented.

The aim of this paper is to study the impact that certain types of expansion joints have on noise levels produced by regular traffic on the streets of Cluj-Napoca. The study was carried out on three distinct locations, all three road bridges had steel expansion joints, the first one had asphalt covering the joints, the second one was in excellent condition, as it was a newly refurbished bridge and the last one with visible signs of degradations.
After a full spectrum noise analysis, the results showed that good maintenance and quality control on the installation of expansion joints are necessary, not only to lower noise levels but to also provide a solid and sealed transition to the bridge deck.

The paper highlights the contribution of the road traffic to PM2.5 air pollution, taking in consideration the atmospheric parameters. But, despite other studies, temperature and relative humidity are considered as moderating variable. The concentration of particulate matter is also influenced by local geography, urban structure, and streets shape. The case study was done in Bucharest, in an open area. The PM2.5 air concentration time series is proved stationary, an autoregressive model with two lags being tested. While the main effects of road traffic and humidity are significant, temperature has not a significant direct effect. But both moderators show interactive effects. The conditional effects are getting down with increase in temperature and humidity, due to changes in air dynamics and precipitation phenomena.

The paper presents the result of research on choosing of options for technological equipments, processus based on the criteria of effective costs and operational energy.
Based on graph theory, the method of selecting the mechanization variant is designed to achieve predictable technical and economic indicators. Thus, the selection stage is the starting point for the technological processes and operational equipment of execution on the working front. In this case, in-situ cold recycling can be optimized with minimal costs and operating power.
The proposed graph has as main elements the nodes through which the simple technological processes associated with the variants of the technological equipments used are represented.
Each node of the graph contains the following information regarding the machine type, input/output size, evaluation and decision algorithm.
Finally, a case study for the Wirtgen equipment recycling technology system is presented.
