Objective: To investigate whether gamification, as an innovative educational tool, may influence engagement and consistency in learning accounting.
Research Design & Methods: Critical review of specialist literature, survey research, and quantitative methods.
Findings: Gamification proves to be an effective tool for increasing engagement and consistency in learning accounting. Gamification elements, such as points, badges, leaderboards, missions, and challenges, influence students’ motivation to learn, encouraging them to engage regularly and systematically in the course material. The results highlight the potential of gamification as a supportive tool in accounting education.
Conclusions: Implementing gamification into accounting courses offers numerous potential benefits, including enhanced engagement and consistency in learning, which may lead to better educational outcomes.
Contribution: The research study’s findings contribute to the growing evidence proving gamification as an effective educational strategy. They confirm and expand the existing knowledge about the positive impact of gamification on education, emphasizing its potential to increase motivation, engagement, and consistency in learning. The research study further indicates the potential benefits of applying gamification in the specific context of accounting education, which can be a valuable contribution to the literature on gamification in business and accounting education.
