Cooperation between the European Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations has many and increasingly varied dimensions. Migration and police cooperation are emerging as key areas of cooperation. These are sensitive areas, traditionally concerned with issues of sovereignty and internal affairs. For the time being, they are still in their infancy, but could be developed in the light of the opportunities for cooperation offered by the European Union to its partners. Looking at the instruments and methods used, the factors identified and the outlook, this contribution reveals a fairly differentiated approach to cooperation in these two particularly sensitive article, with a multidimensional development of political dialogue, a variable mobilisation of operational cooperation possibilities and an under-utilisation of conventional instruments.
