The Contribution of Sustainable Businesses to Achieving Sustainable Development Goals: A Bibliometric Analysis

The paper examines the role of sustainable businesses in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Recognising the significance of business participation in attaining a more sustainable future, this study uses bibliometric analysis to assess the present status of research in this area. To begin, the paper emphasises the growing importance of understanding the role businesses can play in advancing the SDGs. This research seeks to bring to light existing knowledge gaps and trends in the scientific literature that investigate this critical link. Using a systematic approach, the study analyses a comprehensive dataset of academic papers to address the following subjects: the evolution of the research on sustainable business, the authors, organisations, countries, documents, and sources that have impacted the development of the field, the issues that framed the research on sustainable business, and the contribution of sustainable business practices to specific SDGs. Investigation uncovers key insights, reveals research focus trends, and specific areas of the Sustainable Development Goals. These conclusions underscore the evolving understanding of sustainable businesses' potential contributions to achieving the SDGs. The study provides a comprehensive overview of the research landscape using a robust bibliographic methodology. The findings provide valuable information for researchers, companies, and policy makers aimed at further increase the positive impact of sustainable business practices on the achievement of the ambitious goals of the United Nations SDG agenda. The contribution of sustainable businesses to achieving Sustainable Development Goals is highlighted by scientific papers with research focusing on the correlation between sustainable business and SDG indicators. An attention-grabbing aspect is that most scientific papers on sustainable business were published in connection with the "Industry Innovation and Infrastructure" and "Responsible Consumption and Production" indicators.
