Reducing sugar in tobacco can reduce the pungent odor of cigarette smoke and is the important indicator of tobacco routine chemical analysis. In order to improve the stability of the continuous flow method for the determination of the reducing sugar content in tobacco, the current ISO method, ISO 15154:2003, was intentionally modified as follows: the 5% acetic acid solution in the blue/blue pipeline was replaced by 0.2 mol@L-1 hydrochloric acid solution in the red/red pipeline; the concentration of sodium hydroxide was reduced from 0.5 mol@L-1 to 0.4 mol@L-1; and the volume of the heating tank was increased from 7.7 mL to 10.6 mL. It was found that the repeatability and reproducibility of the revised method kept comparable to those of ISO 15154:2003, the effective sampling in one experiment of the revised method was increased to 90 cups without precipitates in the pipeline, the main reaction time was extended by 45 s, and the lifespan of the heating tank was prolonged by more than 100%. In addition, the modified method was evaluated via a general validation procedure, and the detection limit and the quantitation limit were 0.0057% and 0.0190%, respectively. Furthermore, the relative standard deviation was less than 5%, and the recovery of added standard was between 98.22% and 103.65%. Reduzierender Zucker im Tabak kann den stechenden Geruch des Zigarettenrauchs abmildern und gilt außerdem als wichtiger Indikator bei chemischen Routineanalysen von Tabak. Zur Verbesserung der Stabilität des kontinuierlichen Durchflussverfahrens, das zur Bestimmung des Gehalts an reduzierenden Zuckern im Tabak angewendet wird, wurde die aktuelle Methode nach ISO 15154:2003 bewusst wie folgt modifiziert: Die 5%ige Essigsäurelösung im blau-blauen Schlauch wurde durch 0,2 mol@L-1 Salzsäurelösung im rot-roten Schlauch ersetzt; die Konzentration des Natriumhydroxids wurde von 0,5 mol@L-1 auf 0,4 mol@L-1 verringert und das Volumen des Heizbades wurde von 7,7 mL auf 10,6 mL erhöht. Es wurde festgestellt, dass die Wiederholbarkeit und Reproduzierbarkeit des überarbeiteten Verfahrens mit denen von ISO 15154:2003 vergleichbar sind. Die effektive Probennahme wurde im überarbeiteten Verfahren auf 90 Gläser je Versuch erhöht, ohne dass es zu Ausfällungen im Schlauch kam. Zudem wurde die Hauptreaktionszeit um 45 s verlängert und die Lebensdauer des Heizbades um mehr als 100% erhöht. Die überarbeitete Methode wurde außerdem mithilfe eines allgemeinen Vali-dierungsverfahrens evaluiert. Hierbei lagen die Nachweisgrenze und die quantitative Grenze jeweils bei 0,0057% bzw. 0,0190%. Les hydrates de carbone réducteurs contenus dans le tabac peuvent atténuer l’odeur âcre de la fumée de cigarette et constituent un indicateur important dans les analyses chimiques de routine du tabac. Dans le souci d’améliorer la stabilité de la méthode par chromatographie à élution continue servant à la détermination de la teneur en hydrates de carbone réducteurs du tabac, la méthode ISO actuelle (ISO 15154:2003) fut délibérément modifiée de la façon suivante : L’acide acétique en solution à 5% dans le tube bleu/bleu fut remplacé par une solution d’acide chlorhydrique 0,2 mol@L-1 dans le tube rouge/rouge; la concentration d’hydroxyde de sodium fut réduite, passant de 0,5 mol@L-1 à 0,4 mol@L-1 tandis que le volume du réservoir de chauffe fut rehaussé, passant de 7,7 mL à 10,6 mL. Il fut observé que la répétabilité et la reproductibilité de la méthode modifiée tenaient la comparaison avec les valeurs obtenues grâce à la norme ISO 15154:2003, l’échantillon effectif sur un essai de la méthode modifiée fut porté à 90 godets sans précipités dans le tube, le temps de réaction principal fut prolongé de 45’’ et la durée de vie du réservoir de chauffe fut prolongée de plus de 100%. En outre, la méthode améliorée fut évaluée au travers d’une procédure de validation générale; la seuil de détection ainsi que la limite quantitative pointaient à respectivement 0,0057% et 0,0190%. Par ailleurs, l’écart-type relatif était inférieur à 5% tandis que la récupération de l’ajout de solution étalon oscillait entre 98,22% et 103,65%.
